PRS Custom 24-08 Artist Top – Sage / Stained Figured Maple Neck (S/N: 0425848)
Artist-Grade 10 Top • Ziricote Fretboard • Smoked Black Hardware • PRS D1 Molded Hardshell Case
This is the kind of PRS that reminds us why the Custom 24 remains such an important guitar nearly four decades after its introduction.
This individual USA-made PRS Custom 24-08 takes the iconic 24-fret platform considerably further with an Artist-grade flame maple 10 Top, Sage finish, stained figured maple neck, Ziricote fretboard and headstock veneer, Old School Outline Bird inlays and smoked-black hardware.
It is visually spectacular, but the specifications aren't simply cosmetic. The Pattern Thin figured maple neck, Ziricote fretboard, Gen III tremolo and versatile TCI electronics create a Custom 24-08 with a personality all its own.
Serial number 0425848 is available now at Northeast Music Center and includes a PRS D1 molded hardshell case.

An Artist-Level Custom 24-08
The foundation is unmistakably PRS: carved maple top, mahogany back, 24 frets and a 25" scale.
But this particular guitar moves well beyond the standard specification.
The Artist-grade flame maple 10 Top is finished in Sage, creating a sophisticated green tone that allows the figuring of the maple to remain the visual centerpiece.
Then there's the neck.
Instead of the standard mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard, this guitar features a figured maple neck stained to complement the body and paired with a Ziricote fretboard. A matching Ziricote headstock veneer carries that exotic-wood theme all the way to the end of the instrument.
Add Old School Outline Birds and smoked-black hardware, and the result is a Custom 24-08 that looks unmistakably PRS while being far removed from an ordinary production example.
TCI Pickups & Independent EQ Switching
The Custom 24-08 has always been about taking the original Custom 24 concept and expanding its tonal possibilities.
This version uses PRS TCI Treble and Bass pickups with a master Volume, Tone, 3-way toggle and two independent mini-toggle EQ switches.
The mini toggles are not conventional coil splits.
With a switch down, that pickup operates with its flat EQ. Flip it up and a tuned high-pass filter is engaged, shelving low frequencies while allowing more upper-frequency clarity to come through.
Because each pickup has its own switch, you can alter the EQ character of the neck and bridge pickups independently.
That makes the system extremely useful without making the guitar complicated to operate.
3-Way Toggle
- Down: Bridge/Treble Pickup
- Middle: Bridge + Neck Pickups
- Up: Neck/Bass Pickup
EQ Mini Toggles
- Down: Flat EQ / High-Pass Filter Off
- Up: High-Pass Filter Engaged
The result is a broader tonal palette while preserving the direct control layout that makes a Custom 24 so easy to use.
Figured Maple Neck + Ziricote Fretboard
The neck specification is one of our favorite aspects of this guitar.
The figured maple neck uses PRS's Pattern Thin profile, providing the fast, comfortable feel associated with the Custom 24 platform.
The Ziricote fretboard adds another premium visual element, with naturally dramatic grain patterns that look particularly striking against the Sage finish and stained maple neck.
With 24 frets, a 25" scale and 10" radius, the guitar retains the familiar Custom 24 geometry that works equally well for rhythm playing, bends, articulate lead work and more technical styles.
Gen III Tremolo & Phase III Locking Tuners
PRS completes the instrument with its Patented Gen III Tremolo, designed around excellent vibration transfer, smooth operation and tuning stability.
At the other end are PRS Phase III locking tuners with Wing buttons, combining fast string changes and secure tuning with PRS's lightweight tuner-button design.
The smoked-black hardware is an especially good choice on this guitar, giving the Sage finish and exotic woods a darker, more contemporary edge.

A Custom 24-08 That Stands Apart
There are Custom 24s, and then there are examples where the wood selection, finish and appointments turn an already exceptional instrument into something genuinely distinctive.
0425848 is one of those guitars.
The combination of an Artist-grade flame maple 10 Top, Sage finish, stained figured maple neck, Ziricote fretboard and headstock veneer, Old School Outline Birds and smoked-black hardware gives this guitar an identity you simply won't find on a standard Custom 24-08.
Underneath those appointments is one of PRS's most versatile USA-made instruments: 24 frets, Pattern Thin neck, Gen III tremolo and the TCI/EQ switching system.
With decades of experience selling PRS guitars, Northeast Music Center understands how special the right combination of woods and specifications can make an individual PRS. Guitars like this are exactly why we remain so passionate about the brand.
