MESA/Boogie 2x12 Rectifier Horizontal Cabinet w/ Track-Loc™ Caster Kit Included!
Legendary Rectifier cabinet tone in a more manageable 2x12 format. The MESA/Boogie 2x12 Rectifier Horizontal combines two Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, 120 watts of power handling, a sealed Baltic-birch enclosure, massive low-end authority, and the unmistakable punch and projection that have made MESA Rectifier cabinets a standard for serious guitar players. Better still, the Track-Loc™ removable caster kit and fitted slipcover are included.
The MESA/Boogie 2x12 Rectifier Horizontal Cabinet is one of those products that has earned its reputation the old-fashioned way.
It sounds enormous.
MESA originally developed the Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 by matching its dimensions to the bottom two-speaker section of the Standard Oversized Rectifier 4x12.
That design decision gives this cabinet much of the depth, punch, projection, and physical authority players associate with a much larger enclosure—without requiring you to haul a full 4x12 everywhere you play.
Loaded with two rear-mounted Celestion Vintage 30 speakers and constructed from void-free marine-grade Baltic birch, the Horizontal Rectifier is equally at home underneath a Dual Rectifier, Badlander, Mark Series, Triple Crown, or virtually any amplifier that benefits from a powerful sealed 2x12.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this is a professional MESA cabinet for players who want serious 4x12-inspired authority in a considerably more manageable package.

THE RECTIFIER 2x12 THAT THINKS IT'S A 4x12
That's really the story of this cabinet.
MESA didn't simply put two Vintage 30s into a small rectangular box and call it a Rectifier cabinet.
The Horizontal 2x12 was developed using dimensions derived from the lower two speakers of MESA's Standard Oversized Rectifier 4x12.
That gives the enclosure considerably more authority than many conventional 2x12 designs.
You hear it in the low end.
You feel it in the punch.
And when the amplifier starts moving air, the cabinet projects with the kind of physical presence normally associated with something considerably larger.
MESA itself describes the cabinet as sounding big enough to make players question whether there's actually a 4x12 behind them.
That's exactly the experience this cabinet was designed to deliver.
TWO CELESTION VINTAGE 30s
At the heart of the cabinet are:
2 × Celestion Vintage 30 speakers.
Few speaker and cabinet combinations are as closely associated with modern MESA tone.
Vintage 30s bring a strong, articulate midrange.
Excellent projection.
Controlled lows.
Harmonic complexity.
And enough upper-mid presence to keep heavily driven guitar tones from disappearing in a dense band mix.
That's why they work so well here.
120 WATTS OF POWER HANDLING
The cabinet is rated at:
120 Watts
with an:
8-Ohm total impedance.
That makes it a natural match for an enormous range of professional guitar amplifiers.
The important thing is always to properly match the amplifier's speaker output to the cabinet's 8-ohm impedance and observe appropriate power-handling requirements.
When correctly matched, the Rectifier 2x12 gives powerful tube amplifiers plenty of cabinet to work with.
SEALED / CLOSED-BACK CONSTRUCTION
The Horizontal Rectifier uses a completely:
Sealed Closed-Back Enclosure.
That design is central to the cabinet's personality.
A sealed cabinet generally provides a more focused and controlled low-frequency response than an open-back design, with the speaker energy projecting forward rather than spilling from the rear of the enclosure.
The result here is the familiar Rectifier experience:
Punch.
Focus.
Low-end authority.
Projection.
It's especially effective for high-gain rhythm playing, where the cabinet needs to remain composed under substantial low-frequency energy.
NOT JUST FOR METAL
Rectifier cabinets have an enormous reputation in hard rock and metal.
They've earned it.
But describing this cabinet simply as a "metal cabinet" sells it short.
The Vintage 30s provide enough warmth and midrange character for classic rock.
The sealed enclosure gives clean tones substantial body.
Lead tones gain projection and sustain.
Crunch tones develop weight and authority.
Alternative.
Progressive.
Blues-rock.
Hard rock.
Modern country.
Fusion.
The cabinet doesn't know what style of music you're playing.
It simply provides a big, focused platform for the amplifier connected to it.
THE CABINET MATTERS
At Northeast Music Center, we think guitar cabinets sometimes receive far less attention than they deserve.
Players will spend hours comparing amplifiers and then treat the cabinet as an afterthought.
But the cabinet is the final acoustic stage of the guitar amplifier.
Change the cabinet and you change:
The low-end response.
The midrange.
The projection.
The attack.
The feel.
And ultimately the sound reaching both the player and the microphone.
Pairing a great MESA head with a genuine Rectifier cabinet completes the system the way it was intended to work.
MARINE-GRADE BALTIC BIRCH
MESA constructs the Rectifier 2x12 from:
Void-Free Marine-Grade Baltic Birch.
The corners use strong rabbet construction that is both:
Glued
and:
Nailed.
The speaker baffle uses:
Dado-joint construction
and is additionally braced.
The grille is mounted to its own separate grille board rather than simply being wrapped directly around the speaker baffle.
These aren't glamorous specifications.
But they're exactly the details that separate a serious professional cabinet from a basic speaker enclosure.
BUILT FOR THE ROAD
A cabinet like this is meant to be used.
Rehearsal rooms.
Studios.
Club stages.
Touring rigs.
Backlines.
The Baltic-birch construction gives the enclosure the rigidity and durability required for professional use, while the hardware and removable casters make moving the cabinet considerably easier.
And that brings us to an important feature of this particular listing.
TRACK-LOC™ REMOVABLE CASTER KIT INCLUDED
The cabinet includes MESA's:
Track-Loc™ Removable Caster Kit.
That's worth calling out clearly.
A 61-pound cabinet is certainly manageable compared with a full Rectifier 4x12, but there's no reason to carry it farther than necessary.
Install the casters and roll the cabinet across a stage, hallway, studio, or loading area.
When you want the cabinet planted directly on the floor, the Track-Loc design allows the casters to be removed.
It's a simple professional feature that makes a noticeable difference when you're actually living with the cabinet.
FITTED MESA SLIPCOVER INCLUDED
MESA also includes a:
Fitted Slipcover.
Again, this is something we think deserves to be listed rather than buried.
A cabinet that gets transported is going to encounter:
Doorways.
Car trunks.
Other equipment.
Dust.
Storage rooms.
Stages.
The fitted cover gives you another layer of protection for the cabinet's finish during normal transport and storage.
Caster Kit Included.
Slipcover Included.
Those are genuine added-value accessories.
61 POUNDS — MUCH EASIER THAN A RECTIFIER 4x12
The Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 weighs:
61 lbs.
Its dimensions are:
17½" High
30⅛" Wide
14¼" Deep.
That's still a substantial professional guitar cabinet.
It should be.
But compare that with the size and weight of a full Oversized Rectifier 4x12 and the attraction becomes obvious.
You retain much of the Rectifier cabinet personality while gaining a system that's dramatically easier to transport.
And with the included Track-Loc casters, moving it becomes easier still.
AN IDEAL MATCH FOR MESA HEADS
This cabinet can work beautifully with a wide range of amplifiers, but there is something particularly satisfying about pairing it with a MESA head.
Dual Rectifier
Triple Rectifier
Badlander
Mark Series
Triple Crown
Electra Dyne
and many other compatible amplifiers can benefit from the Horizontal Rectifier's substantial sealed response.
The amplifier supplies the voice.
The cabinet gives that voice physical authority.
That's what makes a well-matched head-and-cabinet system so satisfying.
BUILT IN PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA
The MESA/Boogie Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 is built in:
Petaluma, California, USA.
That means something to us at Northeast Music Center.
MESA cabinets aren't generic enclosures carrying a familiar logo.
The construction, dimensions, materials, speakers, bracing, and enclosure design are all part of the final sound.
The cabinet is an instrument in the signal chain.
And the Rectifier 2x12 has been refined around a very specific goal:
Make two speakers sound and feel much bigger than players expect from a 2x12.
WHEN YOU WANT A 4x12 — BUT DON'T WANT TO BRING ONE
That's ultimately where this cabinet makes so much sense.
A full 4x12 is an incredible experience.
But it isn't always practical.
The Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 gives you a compelling alternative.
You get:
Two Celestion Vintage 30s.
120 watts.
8-ohm impedance.
Sealed Baltic-birch construction.
Rectifier low-end authority.
Track-Loc removable casters.
Fitted slipcover.
And a cabinet that weighs:
61 pounds.
At Northeast Music Center, we'd recommend the Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 to the guitarist who wants a genuine professional MESA cabinet with enough size and authority to make a powerful tube head come alive—but doesn't necessarily want to transport a full 4x12.
It's big where it matters.
Manageable where it counts.
And unmistakably Rectifier.
Two Vintage 30s. 120 watts. 8 ohms. Sealed Baltic birch. Caster kit included.
A true MESA classic.
