MESA/Boogie Badlander 50 All-Tube Guitar Amplifier Head – Purple Bronco

Tight Rectifier authority, aggressive EL34 character, and unmistakable custom Boogie style. The MESA/Boogie Badlander 50 delivers 50/20-watt operation, two fully independent channels with Clean, Crunch, and Crush modes, CabClone IR with an internal reactive load, and a stunning Purple Bronco custom finish.
The MESA/Boogie Badlander 50 takes the legendary Rectifier concept in a tighter, faster, and more focused direction.
Powered by a pair of EL34 power tubes, the Badlander 50 combines the aggressive attitude expected from a Rectifier-family amplifier with stronger midrange presence, controlled low end, excellent articulation, and a remarkably immediate response. MESA designed the 50-watt version to retain serious authority while offering less output power and weight than its 100-watt sibling.
And this particular amplifier takes the presentation considerably further.
Purple Bronco.
It's a bold custom MESA finish that immediately separates this Badlander from a standard production head.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this is a Badlander for the player who wants their amplifier to have as much personality visually as it does sonically.

THE BADLANDER APPROACH TO RECTIFIER TONE
The Badlander isn't simply another version of the classic Rectifier.
MESA describes it as a tighter, more aggressive evolution of the Rectifier concept, with a more focused low end, assertive midrange character, and enhanced harmonic content.
That difference becomes immediately important when you start playing.
Fast rhythm passages remain articulate.
Palm-muted riffs hit hard without the bottom end becoming overwhelming.
Complex chords retain separation under gain.
Lower tunings maintain definition.
Lead tones have enough midrange presence to cut through a dense mix.
The Badlander can certainly get heavy—but precision is as important here as power.

TWO CHANNELS — CLEAN, CRUNCH AND CRUSH ON BOTH
MESA's Channel Cloning™ architecture is one of the Badlander's strongest features.
Both channels offer:
CLEAN
CRUNCH
CRUSH
Each channel then provides its own Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Presence, Master, and CabClone IR selection.
That gives you considerably more freedom than the traditional idea of Channel 1 being clean and Channel 2 being lead.
You could run:
Channel 1 – Clean / Channel 2 – Crush
Or:
Channel 1 – Crunch Rhythm / Channel 2 – Crunch Lead
Or:
Channel 1 – Crush Rhythm / Channel 2 – Crush Lead
The amplifier doesn't decide what your two channels need to be.
You do.

CLEAN — MORE THAN YOU EXPECT FROM A RECTIFIER
Don't overlook Clean because of the Badlander name.
The Clean mode gives you a dynamic foundation for traditional clean sounds, pedals, atmospheric playing, and pushed-clean textures.
Because each channel has independent controls, your clean sound doesn't require compromising the EQ or gain structure of your overdrive channel.
That dramatically expands the usefulness of the amplifier beyond high-gain music.

CRUNCH — A SERIOUS REASON TO OWN A BADLANDER
Crunch may be the Badlander's secret weapon.
This mode can move from muscular edge-of-breakup through classic rock, alternative, punk, hard rock, and into substantial gain.
The EL34 power section is especially at home here.
There's upper-midrange authority, harmonic texture, and a physical response beneath your hands that makes the Badlander 50 extremely satisfying even before you reach its highest-gain mode.
This isn't an amplifier that only becomes interesting when everything is turned up.

CRUSH — TIGHT, AGGRESSIVE AND DEFINED
Crush is where the Badlander earns its reputation.
There's plenty of saturation available, but the important characteristic is what remains inside that saturation:
Definition.
Attack.
Separation.
Punch.
The Badlander delivers aggressive modern gain without requiring the player to sacrifice articulation.
That's why it works so well for modern rock, progressive music, metal, lower tunings, and players whose technique depends on the amplifier tracking exactly what their hands are doing.

50 WATTS OR 20 WATTS — TWO DIFFERENT POWER-AMP PERSONALITIES
At 50 watts, both EL34s operate in Pentode for maximum punch, headroom, and authority.
Switch to 20 watts, and the same pair of EL34s is reconfigured for Triode operation. MESA describes this setting as offering greater clipping potential and a more harmonic-rich EL34 response.
That's an important distinction.
This isn't simply:
50W = Loud
20W = Quiet
It's also:
50W = Punch / Authority / Headroom
20W = Earlier Clipping / Harmonics / Different Feel
For recording, rehearsal, smaller venues, or simply changing the response beneath your hands, that makes the power switch genuinely useful.

CABCLONE IR — EIGHT MESA CABINETS BUILT IN
The Badlander 50 isn't stuck in the past when it comes to recording and live performance.
Its built-in CabClone IR system comes loaded with eight authentic MESA cabinet IRs:
• 4x12 Rectifier Standard – Closed Back
• 4x12 Rectifier Traditional – Closed Back
• 2x12 Rectifier Horizontal – Closed Back
• 1x12 Rectifier – Closed Back
• 1x12 Thiele – Closed Back / Front Ported
• 2x12 Lone Star – Open Back
• 1x12 Lone Star 23 – Open Back
• 1x12 California Tweed 23 – Open Back
The system is also compatible with select third-party IRs and provides additional library storage accessible through USB.
And because IR selection is independent for each channel, you could run your Clean sound through an open-back virtual cabinet while assigning Crush to a closed-back Rectifier 4x12.
That's a powerful recording and performance tool.

INTERNAL REACTIVE LOAD — RUN IT WITHOUT A PHYSICAL CABINET
This may be one of the Badlander 50's most useful modern features.
The CabClone IR system incorporates an internal reactive amplifier load, allowing properly configured cabinet-free operation.
That means you can use the actual Badlander tube amplifier without connecting a physical speaker cabinet.
Practice through headphones.
Record silently.
Send the balanced XLR IR output directly to an audio interface.
Send a consistent direct signal to front-of-house.
Or connect your favorite physical MESA cabinet and use the amplifier conventionally.
You're still generating your tone through five 12AX7 preamp tubes and two EL34 power tubes.
The modern technology simply gives you more ways to capture and use that tone.

36 POUNDS — THE MIDDLEWEIGHT BADLANDER
This is another specification I would make visible on the Northeast Music Center page.
The Badlander 50 Head weighs 36 lbs. and measures 9⅝" H × 22¾" W × 10⅜" D.
 45 lbs. Shipping Weight
Actual Amplifier Weight: 36 lbs.

PURPLE BRONCO — THIS ONE ISN'T STANDARD
Then there's the feature you notice before you ever turn the amplifier on.
Purple Bronco.
A standard black Badlander already looks purposeful.
Purple Bronco gives the amplifier genuine custom-Boogie personality.
It's distinctive without losing the serious appearance of a professional MESA amplifier, and it's the type of configuration that looks equally at home on stage or as the centerpiece of a player's home studio.
That's part of what we enjoy offering at Northeast Music Center.
If you're investing in an amplifier you may own for decades, there's no reason it has to look exactly like every other one.

WHY THE BADLANDER 50 MAY BE THE SWEET SPOT
The Badlander family gives players three very different choices.
The Badlander 25 offers EL84 character and maximum portability.
The Badlander 100 provides four-EL34 authority and huge power reserves.
But the Badlander 50 occupies a particularly attractive middle ground.
You still get the EL34 character.
You still get serious stage volume.
You still get Clean, Crunch, and Crush.
You still get CabClone IR and the internal load.
But you get it from a 36-pound, 50/20-watt head that is considerably easier to live with than many traditional high-powered tube amplifiers.
At Northeast Music Center, we think that's what makes the Badlander 50 such a compelling professional amplifier.
It's powerful without being excessive.
Aggressive without becoming one-dimensional.
Modern without sacrificing the feel of a real tube amplifier.
And this Purple Bronco version adds something the specification sheet can't quantify:
Personality.
50/20 watts. Two EL34s. Five 12AX7s. Two channels. Clean, Crunch and Crush on both. CabClone IR. Internal reactive load. 36 pounds. Purple Bronco.
A tighter, faster Rectifier with unmistakable custom Boogie style.
