MESA/Boogie Fillmore 50 Watt 1x12 Combo Amplifier
Vintage-inspired American tube tone with the flexibility and craftsmanship that define MESA/Boogie. The Fillmore 50 combines two independent channels, three selectable voices per channel, expressive 6L6 power, lush all-tube spring reverb, and a Celestion Custom 90 speaker in a remarkably versatile 1x12 combo built for players who value touch, dynamics, and great fundamental guitar tone.
The MESA/Boogie Fillmore 50 represents a wonderfully different side of MESA.
Rather than focusing on extreme gain, elaborate switching, or an overwhelming number of controls, the Fillmore reaches back toward the soulful, responsive character of the great American tube amplifiers that helped shape electric guitar.
But this isn't simply a vintage recreation.
MESA takes that familiar foundation and gives the modern player far greater flexibility with two fully independent channels, three selectable modes per channel, Channel Cloning™, Full/Half power operation, independent spring reverb controls, independent Master controls, and a fully buffered effects loop.
Available from Northeast Music Center, the Fillmore 50 is an outstanding choice for players who want beautiful cleans, natural breakup, expressive overdrive, and enough flexibility to build an entire rig around one exceptional amplifier.

A DIFFERENT SIDE OF MESA/BOOGIE
Say MESA/Boogie and many guitarists immediately think of the Mark Series or the massive aggression of a Dual Rectifier.
The Fillmore tells another part of the MESA story.
Its inspiration reaches back toward the company's earliest roots, when great tone was fundamentally about the interaction between guitar, amplifier, speaker, tubes, and player.
That's exactly what makes the Fillmore 50 so compelling.
It responds.
Pick softly and it relaxes.
Dig into the strings and it pushes back.
Roll down the guitar volume and it cleans beautifully.
Turn it up and the harmonic complexity returns.
The Fillmore doesn't simply give you sounds.
It gives you an amplifier you can play.
TWO CHANNELS — THREE MODES EACH
This is where the Fillmore becomes considerably more versatile than its traditional appearance suggests.
Both channels offer:
CLEAN
DRIVE
HI
through MESA's Channel Cloning™ architecture.
That means MESA doesn't decide what Channel 1 and Channel 2 have to be.
You do.
Want Channel 1 Clean and Channel 2 Drive?
Perfect.
Want Clean and HI?
Absolutely.
Want Drive and HI?
You can do that too.
You can even configure both channels around the same mode while using different Gain, EQ, Presence, Reverb, and Master settings.
That's an enormous amount of practical flexibility from an amplifier that remains remarkably intuitive to operate.
CLEAN — BIG, OPEN & DYNAMIC
The Clean mode establishes the foundation of the Fillmore.
It's open.
Warm.
Dimensional.
And exceptionally responsive.
Single-coil pickups retain their clarity and sparkle.
Humbuckers gain fullness and body without immediately becoming congested.
Chords remain articulate.
Individual notes have space around them.
And because the amplifier responds so naturally to playing dynamics, the Clean mode doesn't feel sterile or disconnected.
It's the kind of clean tone that encourages you to keep playing.
DRIVE — NATURAL TUBE OVERDRIVE
Move into Drive, and the Fillmore begins transitioning naturally from clean tone into harmonic saturation.
This is where the amplifier becomes particularly addictive.
Edge-of-breakup.
Blues.
Roots.
Classic rock.
Americana.
Country-rock.
Crunch.
Singing lead tones.
The Drive mode doesn't feel like a distortion circuit placed on top of the clean amplifier.
It feels like the amplifier itself is being pushed harder.
That's exactly the character many players spend years trying to find.
HI — MORE GAIN, SAME PERSONALITY
The HI mode takes the Fillmore deeper into saturation.
There's more gain.
More sustain.
More harmonic complexity.
And considerably more authority for rock-oriented playing.
But it still sounds like a Fillmore.
This isn't trying to transform itself into a Rectifier.
Instead, HI takes the amplifier's naturally organic voice and pushes it farther.
That makes the transition from Clean to Drive to HI feel cohesive rather than like three unrelated amplifiers sharing the same cabinet.
TWO 6L6 POWER TUBES
At the heart of the Fillmore 50 are:
2 × MESA 6L6 power tubes.
That choice is central to the amplifier's personality.
6L6s have long been associated with great American tube amplifiers because of their broad dynamic range, substantial low end, open highs, and beautiful clean headroom.
Push them harder and they begin adding warmth, compression, and harmonic richness.
That gives the Fillmore the foundation it needs to move naturally from sparkling clean tone into increasingly saturated overdrive.
DYNA-WATT™ FULL / HALF POWER
MESA gives the Fillmore 50 a global:
FULL / HALF POWER
switch.
But there's more happening here than simply reducing volume.
In Full Power, the two 6L6s operate in Class A/B Pentode, producing:
40 Watts Clean / 60 Watts Maximum.
Switch to Half Power and the power section operates in Class A/B Triode, producing:
20 Watts Clean / 28 Watts Maximum.
That changes the feel of the amplifier as well as its available power.
Full Power provides greater punch, headroom, clarity, and authority.
Half Power becomes sweeter and easier to push, with a softer response and lush harmonic character.
That makes the power switch a genuine tonal tool.
ALL-TUBE LONG-TANK SPRING REVERB
An amplifier inspired by great American tube tone deserves real spring reverb.
The Fillmore delivers it with:
All-Tube Long-Tank Spring Reverb.
Even better, each channel has its own independent Reverb control.
Set your clean channel spacious and dimensional.
Keep your Drive channel tighter and drier.
Or create completely different ambient personalities for each side of the amplifier.
The reverb becomes part of each channel rather than one global compromise.
CELESTION CUSTOM 90
MESA pairs the Fillmore 50 with:
1 × 12" Celestion Custom 90
with an:
8-ohm total load.
The C90 is an excellent choice for an amplifier with this much tonal range.
It provides substantial headroom, strong low-frequency authority, articulate highs, and a broad response that allows the differences between Clean, Drive, and HI to come through clearly.
The speaker doesn't force the Fillmore into one narrow personality.
It lets the amplifier speak.
AN EXCEPTIONAL PEDAL PLATFORM
The Fillmore 50 can also make a superb foundation for a serious pedalboard.
Start with the Clean mode and build your gain structure externally.
Or set Drive near the edge of breakup and use boosts or overdrives to push the amplifier itself.
Those two approaches can create dramatically different results.
Compressors.
Boosts.
Overdrives.
Fuzz.
Modulation.
Delay.
Reverb.
The Fillmore's open response gives carefully chosen pedals room to retain their own character.
For players who have invested years developing a pedalboard, that's important.
FULLY BUFFERED SERIES EFFECTS LOOP
MESA also includes a:
Fully Buffered Series Effects Loop.
This is where the Fillmore's vintage inspiration meets modern practicality.
If you're generating more of your gain from the amplifier itself, delays, reverbs, modulation, and other time-based effects can be placed in the loop rather than being forced in front of the preamp.
You get the character of a vintage-inspired amplifier without accepting all the limitations of a genuinely vintage design.
A PROFESSIONAL 1x12 THAT'S EASY TO LIVE WITH
The Fillmore 50 weighs:
45 lbs.
Its dimensions are:
17⅞" H × 22¾" W × 10⅛" D.
That's a very manageable footprint for a professional 6L6-powered tube combo.
Large enough to sound substantial.
Small enough to transport.
Powerful enough for the stage.
Controllable enough for recording and smaller environments.
It's exactly the sort of amplifier that can move easily between:
Home.
Studio.
Rehearsal.
Club.
Theater.
Church.
And stage.
MARINE-GRADE BALTIC BIRCH
MESA builds the Fillmore 50 cabinet from:
Marine-Grade Baltic Birch.
Cabinet construction matters.
The enclosure is part of the final sound of a combo amplifier, and MESA designed the Fillmore's vintage-inspired cabinet dimensions around tone as well as portability.
That contributes to the amplifier's substantial response while keeping the overall package manageable.
HAND-WIRED IN PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA
The Fillmore 50 is:
Hand-Wired in Petaluma, California.
For us at Northeast Music Center, that's an important part of the Fillmore story.
This is a professional American-made MESA amplifier built around a deliberately straightforward idea:
Create a great fundamental tube amplifier.
Give it enough modern flexibility to work in the real world.
And then stay out of the player's way.
FOR PLAYERS WHO NEVER THOUGHT THEY NEEDED A MESA
This may be one of the most important things to understand about the Fillmore.
You don't have to be a traditional MESA player to fall in love with it.
If your idea of MESA is exclusively:
High gain.
Metal.
Rectifiers.
Or complex Mark Series control panels.
The Fillmore deserves your attention.
It's another branch of the MESA family.
One built around:
Touch.
Dynamics.
Warmth.
Natural overdrive.
Spring reverb.
6L6 power.
And great fundamental guitar tone.
At Northeast Music Center, we'd recommend the Fillmore 50 to the player who wants one amplifier capable of moving beautifully from clean to edge-of-breakup to expressive overdrive and rock gain—without losing the organic response of a great tube amp.
It can be simple when you want simple.
Flexible when you need flexibility.
And inspiring every time you plug into it.
Two channels. Three modes per channel. Two 6L6s. One Celestion Custom 90.
That's the Fillmore 50.
