Only 500 Worldwide — Just 100 in Tiger Eye

This is a very different take on a Custom 24.

PRS produced 500 guitars worldwide in this Limited Edition, with only 100 made in Tiger Eye. More interesting to us, though, is what PRS actually did with the build. This one has a Figured Maple 10 Top, Black Limba back, a Figured Maple neck stained to match the Tiger Eye finish, Ziricote fretboard and headstock veneer, and a PRS Stoptail with Brass Inserts.

That's a pretty substantial departure from the Custom 24 most of us are used to.

The Tiger Eye finish is a great choice for this particular wood package. It shows off the figuring in the maple without getting in its way, and carrying the stain onto the Figured Maple neck makes the guitar look especially good from the back. Turn it over and the Black Limba adds another completely different piece of natural grain to the guitar.

At 6 lbs. 12 oz., this particular example is also nice and light. That's worth knowing when you're comparing individual guitars, so we've put the actual weight right at the top where it's easy to find.

A Custom 24 with a Stoptail

The PRS Stoptail with Brass Inserts may be the most interesting part of the specification.

A lot of players love the 24-fret layout and feel of a Custom 24 but simply prefer a fixed bridge. That's exactly what you get here, and because this is a factory PRS Limited Edition rather than a modification, the stoptail is part of the guitar's original design.

The Figured Maple neck has the familiar Pattern Thin profile and a 25" scale length. PRS paired it with a Ziricote fretboard and matching Ziricote headstock veneer, along with Old School Birds featuring Mother of Pearl outlines and Green Select centers.

Electronics are PRS DMO Treble and Bass pickups with Volume, Tone and a 5-Way Blade. Hardware is Nickel, with PRS Phase III Non-Locking tuners and a Bone nut.

It's an unusual specification, but it still makes sense as a Custom 24—which is probably what we like most about it.
