ARTIST QUILT MAPLE + PRIVATE STOCK FROSTBITE
This guitar begins with one of the features we look for first when creating a special Wood Library instrument:
An exceptional piece of maple.
Serial number 0432701 features an Artist-grade quilt maple 10 top, selected for the depth, movement, and three-dimensional character that makes great quilt so captivating.
Then comes the finish:
Private Stock Frostbite.
It's a spectacular pairing.
Frostbite gives the quilt an entirely different visual personality than a traditional burst or transparent color. The contrast emphasizes the rolling figure of the maple and gives the guitar a sophisticated, almost sculptural appearance.
Move the guitar through the light and the top changes with you.
That's exactly what we want from an Artist-grade quilt.
McCARTY CHARACTER — WITH A GEN III TREMOLO
One of the specifications that makes serial number 0432701 particularly interesting is the addition of the PRS Gen III Tremolo.
The traditional McCarty concept is rooted in resonance, sustain, dynamics, and vintage-inspired response. Adding the Gen III Tremolo gives this Wood Library build another dimension, allowing expressive pitch control while preserving the precision and musical feel expected from a high-level PRS.
That makes this guitar especially appealing to the player who loves the 22-fret McCarty platform but doesn't want to give up the expressive possibilities of a tremolo.
Combined with the Artist quilt maple, Brazilian rosewood, and Private Stock Frostbite finish, the Gen III Tremolo helps make this much more than a cosmetically upgraded McCarty.
It's a genuinely distinctive Wood Library specification.
PRS GEN III TREMOLO
Serial number 0432701 is specifically equipped with the PRS Gen III Tremolo.
That's an important part of this Wood Library build.
The McCarty platform is traditionally associated with vintage-inspired response, resonance, sustain, and a 22-fret architecture. Adding the Gen III Tremolo introduces another level of expression without abandoning the fundamental character that makes the McCarty so compelling.
From subtle vibrato and gentle movement on sustained chords to expressive lead work, the Gen III gives the player considerably more freedom.
For someone who loves the feel and voice of a McCarty but wants a tremolo:
This specification makes a tremendous amount of sense.
BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD
The Brazilian rosewood appointment adds another level of significance to this Wood Library specification.
Brazilian rosewood has a long and celebrated history in high-end instrument building and remains particularly desirable among knowledgeable PRS players and collectors.
Its inclusion on an Anniversary Wood Library McCarty is intentional.
This guitar was created to commemorate a major milestone, and we wanted the materials chosen for the run to reflect that significance.
Artist Quilt Maple. Brazilian Rosewood. Private Stock Frostbite.
Three details that immediately separate serial number 0432701 from an ordinary production McCarty.
CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF PRS WITH JACK GRETZ
This is where the guitar becomes especially meaningful to us at Northeast Music Center.
This special Wood Library collection celebrates 30 years of PRS with store owner Jack Gretz.
Three decades of PRS guitars.
Three decades of choosing tops, studying woods, comparing pickups, ordering special instruments, watching PRS evolve, and helping players and collectors find guitars that genuinely inspire them.
Over that time, we've learned something important:
A great Wood Library guitar shouldn't simply have a long list of expensive options.
It should have a reason for every choice.
Wood Library Run 02816 reflects that philosophy.
We wanted instruments that celebrated the relationship by combining exceptional woods, distinctive Private Stock colors, and some of the PRS models that have meant the most to players over the years.
Serial number 0432701 is one of those guitars.
THE McCARTY FOUNDATION
The McCarty has long represented a fascinating side of PRS.
It's unmistakably a Paul Reed Smith guitar, but its design is deeply connected to the traditions of great vintage electric instruments.
At its foundation is the classic McCarty formula:
Carved Maple Top • Mahogany Back • 22 Frets • 25" Scale
The 22-fret layout and 25" scale give the McCarty a substantial, familiar feel while retaining the precision and playability that have defined PRS guitars for decades.
There is warmth and authority here, but also the articulation and balance that make a great PRS so versatile.
WHY WOOD LIBRARY MATTERS
Wood Library is much more than a designation on a specification sheet.
PRS created the program to allow select dealers to build special runs by choosing unique combinations of woods, colors, and appointments beyond the normal Core specification.
For Northeast Music Center, that's where decades of PRS experience become especially valuable.
We don't want to create a guitar simply because an exotic option is available.
The top needs to work with the finish.
The woods need to make sense with the model.
And the finished instrument needs to have an identity of its own.
With Artist quilt maple, Brazilian rosewood and Private Stock Frostbite, this McCarty certainly does.
A McCARTY WITH ITS OWN PERSONALITY
One of the pleasures of a Wood Library run is comparing guitars that share the same fundamental platform but have completely different personalities.
This Frostbite McCarty is a perfect example.
Where brighter transparent colors can emphasize the tropical or dramatic side of figured maple, Frostbite gives this Artist quilt top a sophisticated, almost architectural quality.
Then the Brazilian rosewood introduces another natural element to the specification.
The combination feels deliberate rather than excessive.
Elegant. Distinctive. Unmistakably PRS.
BUILT TO COLLECT — MADE TO PLAY
There's no denying the collector appeal of this guitar.

30th Anniversary Significance
Serial Number 0432701
But none of those details changes what we believe is most important:
This is still a guitar.
And exceptional guitars deserve to be played.
The McCarty's 22-fret architecture, 25" scale and beautifully balanced construction make it the kind of instrument that can become a player's longtime companion rather than simply something admired through a display case.
That balance—between something genuinely collectible and something deeply musical—is one of the things we love most about special PRS guitars.
THREE DECADES OF PRS — ONE VERY SPECIAL McCARTY
For us, serial number 0432701 represents more than another beautiful instrument arriving at Northeast Music Center.
It represents thirty years of conversations.
Thirty years of customers becoming friends.
Thirty years of opening PRS cases and still getting excited about what's inside.
Thirty years of selecting woods, comparing colors, studying specifications and trying to create guitars that someone will remember owning.
And at the center of that history is Jack Gretz's 30-year relationship with PRS guitars.
Wood Library Run 02816 celebrates that story.
For the player or collector who ultimately takes this McCarty home, we hope serial number 0432701 becomes the beginning of another one.
