The PRS SE Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition in Woolstone Green brings together two worlds that John Mayer is genuinely passionate about: exceptional guitars and the unmistakable style of the Land Rover Defender.

Created through the collaboration between PRS Guitars, John Mayer, and Defender, this limited-edition collection takes inspiration directly from the contemporary Defender color palette. For Mayer, a longtime Defender collector and enthusiast, it represents a natural crossover between the instruments he helped create with PRS and the vehicles that have captured his imagination.

For the SE Silver Sky Defender Collection, Mayer and PRS looked through decades of Defender history and a palette encompassing more than 900 colors before selecting four contemporary finishes: Petra Copper, Sedona Red, Carpathian Grey, and Woolstone Green.

This particular guitar is finished in Woolstone Green, one of the distinctive colors from the Land Rover Defender palette and a color that gives the familiar Silver Sky design an entirely new personality.

Woolstone Green Meets the Silver Sky

The story here isn't simply about creating another new guitar color.

It's about taking inspiration from outside the guitar world.

John Mayer has long looked to objects, materials, and designs that interest him when developing colors for his guitars. As both a collector and an enthusiast of Defenders, the opportunity to bring genuine Defender colors to the Silver Sky created a crossover between two of his passions.

On the SE Silver Sky, Woolstone Green has a character all its own.

The distinctive green finish gives the familiar Silver Sky silhouette an appearance that immediately connects with the Defender side of this collaboration, while PRS's decision to pair it with black plastics creates a sharp, sophisticated contrast.

The black pickguard, pickup covers, switch tip, and control knobs give Woolstone Green a decidedly different personality from the more traditional Silver Sky color combinations while allowing the unmistakable shape of the guitar to remain front and center.

It's also a Silver Sky first: the Defender Color Collection marks the first use of a black pickguard on the Silver Sky model.

A custom neck plate unique to the Defender run provides another identifying feature, while an exclusive Custom PRS/Land Rover Gig Bag completes the collaboration.

More Than a New Color

While the Defender treatment gives this guitar its unmistakable appearance, PRS wisely left the heart of the SE Silver Sky intact.

Underneath the Woolstone Green finish is the proven combination of feel, response, and playability that has made the SE Silver Sky one of the most recognizable guitars in the PRS lineup.

The solid poplar body is paired with a bolt-on maple neck featuring the 635JM neck shape, while a rosewood fretboard with PRS Small Bird inlays provides the familiar playing surface.

Its 25.5" scale length and 8.5" fretboard radius provide a comfortable combination of traditional feel and modern playability.

Twenty-two PRS SE medium frets complete a neck designed to be played—not simply admired as part of a limited-edition collection.

PRS 635JM “S” Single-Coil Pickups

Three PRS 635JM “S” single-coil pickups provide the voice of the SE Silver Sky Defender.

Designed to PRS specifications, these pickups deliver a full, warm, vintage-inspired single-coil sound with a musical high end that avoids becoming overly sharp or brash.

The familiar 5-way blade pickup selector provides access to five classic pickup combinations, from warm and expressive neck tones to the distinctive intermediate-position sounds and articulate response of the bridge pickup.

Controls remain simple and intuitive with one volume and two tone controls.

PRS 2-Point Steel Tremolo

The PRS 2-Point Steel Tremolo provides smooth tremolo functionality with excellent tuning stability while retaining the immediate feel players expect from the Silver Sky platform.

PRS vintage-style closed-back tuners, a synthetic bone nut, nickel hardware, and PRS Classic 10-46 strings complete a hardware package built around reliability, resonance, and real-world playability.

The announced order window runs from September 15, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
