Strymon TimeLine MX Multi-Delay Workstation

The Next Generation Of Professional Delay

The Strymon TimeLine MX represents a major evolution of one of the most respected delay pedals ever created. Designed as a complete studio-quality delay workstation, TimeLine MX combines 12 meticulously developed effect engines, dual-algorithm processing, a dedicated five-minute stereo looper, extensive professional routing, and remarkably intuitive control in one stage-ready enclosure.

From the warmth and mechanical movement of vintage tape, drum, oil-can, and bucket-brigade echoes to advanced granular textures, pitch-shifted repeats, rhythmic multitap patterns, and expansive reverb, TimeLine MX delivers an extraordinary range of inspiring sounds. Every engine responds musically to the player, giving guitarists, keyboardists, producers, and sound designers the depth of a studio processor with the immediacy of a premium performance pedal.

Northeast Music Center is proud to offer the Strymon TimeLine MX to musicians seeking uncompromising delay quality, advanced sound design, and professional control from a single creative platform.

Two Independent Effects At Once

TimeLine MX can run two effect engines simultaneously, transforming it from an exceptional delay pedal into a deeply flexible sound-design workstation. The two engines can be arranged in Series, Parallel, or Split routing modes, allowing players to build everything from layered rhythmic echoes to expansive delay-and-reverb combinations.

Independent panning for each engine adds another dimension of control. Place two delay sounds in different areas of the stereo field, spread them outward to leave space for the dry signal, or create movement and separation within a complex ambient preset.

Dual presets can also be configured so each engine is controlled independently from the footswitches. This gives performers immediate command over layered effects without requiring an external controller or complicated menu navigation.

Twelve World-Class Effect Engines

The TimeLine MX includes 11 advanced delay machines and an entirely new reverb engine:

  • dTAPE
  • dBUCKET
  • DIGITAL
  • DRUM
  • OIL CAN
  • MULTITAP
  • SPECTRAL
  • REVERSE
  • ICE
  • LO FI
  • FILTER
  • REVERB

Classic TimeLine favorites have been significantly enhanced, while new engines expand the pedal into previously unexplored territory.

Spectral offers a highly musical approach to granular delay, slicing the input into fragments that can be pitch-shifted, reversed, stretched, and filtered. MultiTap provides up to eight taps with detailed control over rhythm, level, feedback, filtering, and stereo placement. Drum recreates the charming mechanical variations of vintage magnetic drum echoes, while Oil Can produces dark, murky, and beautifully unpredictable repeats.

The dedicated Reverb engine ranges from intimate rooms to immense ambient washes. Adjustable Grit introduces saturated harmonics before or after the reverb tank, while optional tremolo—drawing inspiration from Strymon’s celebrated Flint—adds movement and texture to the wet signal.

Swell And Duck Across Every Delay Engine

Swell and Duck are no longer limited to individual delay types. TimeLine MX makes both functions available across every delay engine.

Swell softens the attack of the repeats, creating smooth ambient textures and evolving pads. Duck keeps echoes beneath the direct signal while the player is performing, then allows them to rise naturally into the space between phrases. These powerful features can transform familiar delay sounds into responsive, performance-aware effects without sacrificing clarity.

Five-Minute Stereo Looper

A dedicated five-minute stereo looper makes TimeLine MX an equally powerful tool for composition, practice, improvisation, and live performance.

The looper can be positioned before or after the delay effects, opening multiple creative possibilities. Record a clean passage and process it afterward, or capture the complete effected sound as it is performed. Selectable multi-button and one-button modes provide either comprehensive control or immediate looping without leaving the current preset.

Reverse, Redo, and Half-Speed functions can also be accessed through MIDI, making the looper easy to integrate into a sophisticated performance system.

Studio-Quality Audio And Analog Dry Path

A high-performance 800 MHz tri-core ARM processor provides the power required for two simultaneous engines and detailed recreations of classic delay technology. Audio is processed at 24-bit/96 kHz resolution with 32-bit floating-point processing, preserving clarity, dynamic response, and exceptional detail.

The analog dry path keeps the unaffected signal entirely in the analog domain, producing zero-latency dry sound that is never converted to digital. Premium analog circuitry includes a discrete Class A JFET input preamp and low-impedance output section, while selectable instrument- and line-level operation prepares the pedal for traditional pedalboards, amplifier effects loops, keyboards, mixers, and professional studio equipment.

At Northeast Music Center, we recognize that exceptional processing should enhance the player’s sound without compromising the original instrument. The TimeLine MX was engineered with precisely that principle in mind.

Professional Stereo Routing

TimeLine MX provides stereo inputs and outputs along with stereo send-and-return capability. Its flexible configuration options support conventional mono or stereo operation, mono or stereo effects loops, Wet/Dry systems, and expansive Wet/Dry/Wet rigs.

External pedals can be inserted between the TimeLine MX engines, making it possible to process one delay through an additional effect before feeding it into the second engine. This hardware effects loop creates routing possibilities typically associated with sophisticated rack systems or complex studio setups.

True Bypass with electromechanical relay switching is available for players who want the pedal completely removed from the signal path. Selectable Buffered Bypass provides another option for larger pedalboards and long cable runs.

Complete MIDI And External Control

Full MIDI implementation allows preset recall and parameter control through standard DIN MIDI, TRS MIDI, or USB-C. TimeLine MX provides 300 preset locations, giving professional players ample space to organize sounds for individual songs, sessions, performances, or complete tours.

The multifunction expression input supports a standard TRS expression pedal, Strymon MultiSwitch, MultiSwitch Plus, or TRS MIDI connection. USB-C provides MIDI communication, firmware updates, and compatibility with Strymon’s Nixie 2 editing and preset-management platform.

A bright OLED display, clearly arranged controls, and dedicated Tap Tempo footswitch keep operation intuitive onstage. The depth is there when required, but essential performance functions remain immediately accessible.

Designed For The Stage, Studio, And Creative Musician

TimeLine MX is housed in a strong, lightweight anodized-aluminum chassis designed to withstand professional use. Its compact footprint delivers extraordinary processing and connectivity without consuming excessive pedalboard space.

This is a delay workstation for musicians who want more than an assortment of conventional echoes. It can reproduce the character of coveted vintage devices, generate complex stereo rhythms, build evolving ambient environments, add professional reverb, and become the control center of an advanced time-based effects system.

Northeast Music Center combines serious product knowledge with attentive, low-pressure service for musicians throughout the country. Whether TimeLine MX will become the centerpiece of a touring pedalboard, recording studio, worship rig, keyboard system, or experimental sound-design setup, Northeast Music Center is here to help you purchase with confidence.

Discover the extraordinary depth, musical response, and limitless creative potential of the Strymon TimeLine MX at Northeast Music Center.
