MESA/Boogie ’90s Dual Rectifier 100-Watt Amplifier Head – Black Bronco

The sound that helped redefine high-gain guitar is back. Two channels. 100 watts. Four 6L6 power tubes. Two 5U4GB rectifier tubes. And the unmistakable feel, punch, and massive low-end authority of the classic ’90s Dual Rectifier.

The MESA/Boogie ’90s Dual Rectifier brings players back to the architecture that started a revolution.

Inspired by the legendary two-channel Dual Rectifier Solo Heads of the 1990s, this 100-watt all-tube head captures the directness, aggressive response, enormous low end, and harmonically rich gain that turned the Rectifier into one of the most influential guitar amplifiers of the modern era.

Finished in classic Black Bronco, this is the Dual Rectifier in its most recognizable form.

Available from Northeast Music Center, the ’90s Dual Rectifier is built for players who don't simply want a modern high-gain amplifier—they want the genuine MESA architecture behind one of the most important high-gain sounds ever created.

THE TWO-CHANNEL RECTIFIER EXPERIENCE

This is the distinction serious Rectifier shoppers need to see immediately.

The ’90s Dual Rectifier isn't simply a later three-channel Rectifier wearing vintage cosmetics.

MESA returned to the two-channel Orange/Red architecture inspired by the original ’90s Dual Rectifier, recreating the straightforward platform that helped establish the Rectifier sound.

There is an immediacy to this design that longtime Rectifier players appreciate.

Plug in. Set the Orange and Red channels. Turn it up.

The amplifier gets you directly to the sound.

ORANGE CHANNEL — CLEAN TO VINTAGE HIGH GAIN

The Orange channel provides an improved Clean mode along with the warmer, harmonically rich Vintage High Gain character associated with classic Rectifier tones.

Clean tones have more range and usefulness than many players who know Rectifiers primarily for high gain might expect.

Move into Vintage High Gain and the amplifier develops thickness, saturation, and harmonic complexity without immediately becoming as aggressive as the Red channel.

MESA's Channel Style / Cloning feature adds another dimension by allowing the Orange channel to adopt the Modern High Gain character normally associated with Red.

RED CHANNEL — THE RECTIFIER SOUND

This is the voice that helped make the Dual Rectifier famous.

The Red channel's Modern High Gain mode delivers enormous low-frequency authority, aggressive attack, layered harmonics, and the unmistakable grind that became part of the vocabulary of rock and heavy music throughout the 1990s and beyond.

But there's more flexibility here than simply “maximum gain.”

Channel Cloning allows Red to take on the Vintage High Gain personality of Orange, giving players the ability to configure the two channels around the sounds they actually need.

TUBE OR SILICON-DIODE RECTIFICATION

This is one of the defining elements of the genuine Rectifier experience.

The ’90s Dual Rectifier lets you choose between two 5U4GB rectifier tubes or silicon diodes.

And you can feel the difference.

Choose Tube Rectification and the power supply responds with more elasticity and give. Notes bloom differently, the attack softens slightly, and the amplifier develops a more forgiving feel beneath the hands.

Switch to Silicon Diodes and everything tightens.

Attack becomes faster. The bottom end feels more controlled. The amplifier responds with additional immediacy.

For aggressive rhythm playing and lower tunings, that tighter response can be particularly effective.

BOLD OR SPONGY — ANOTHER WAY TO CHANGE THE FEEL

MESA's classic BOLD / SPONGY switch gives you another way to alter the power section.

BOLD operates at full line voltage for maximum authority, headroom, and punch.

SPONGY reduces the internal voltage, creating a softer, more elastic response.

Combine that with Tube or Silicon-Diode rectification and the Dual Rectifier offers several fundamentally different playing feels without requiring complicated programming or menus.

This is old-school amplifier flexibility:

Switches, tubes, transformers, and your hands.

100 WATTS OF RECTIFIER AUTHORITY

The 100-watt power section uses four 6L6 power tubes, giving the Dual Rectifier tremendous low-frequency authority and headroom.

And that's important because Rectifier wattage isn't simply about being loud.

It's about what happens when you hit the strings.

Palm-muted chords have physical impact. Low notes remain substantial. Big open chords occupy enormous space.

That sense of weight and scale is a major part of why players fell in love with these amplifiers.

If you prefer a different power-tube personality, MESA also provides a dedicated 6L6 / EL34 Bias Select switch, allowing compatible EL34 power tubes to be used without conventional rebiasing.

AN AMPLIFIER THAT CHANGED WHAT HEAVY GUITAR COULD SOUND LIKE

When the original Dual Rectifier appeared in the early 1990s, it sounded dramatically different from many of the high-gain amplifiers that preceded it.

The low end was bigger.

The attack was aggressive.

The gain structure had tremendous harmonic texture.

And perhaps most importantly, the amplifier had a physical response that made players want to play differently.

That sound found its way across alternative rock, hard rock, punk, metal, nu-metal, progressive music, and countless other styles.

Decades later, software companies and amplifier builders around the world still attempt to recreate the Rectifier sound.

But there is something different about standing in front of the real thing.

At Northeast Music Center, that's why we're excited about the return of the ’90s Dual Rectifier. This is an opportunity for longtime Rectifier players to reconnect with the classic two-channel architecture—and for a new generation to discover why the original created such an enormous impact.

CLASSIC BLACK BRONCO

For the player who wants the iconic appearance to go with the iconic sound, this is the version.

Black Bronco vinyl. Black Diamond Plate. Black chassis. Black controls.

No elaborate custom treatment is necessary.

This is the visual identity most players picture when they hear the words Dual Rectifier.

There's also something particularly appropriate about owning this amplifier in its classic configuration. The ’90s Dual Rectifier isn't trying to reinvent the amplifier that made MESA famous.

It's bringing players back to it.

And Northeast Music Center is proud to offer the genuine MESA/Boogie ’90s Dual Rectifier to players looking for the unmistakable combination of massive tone, straightforward two-channel operation, and classic Rectifier feel.

100 watts. Four 6L6s. Two 5U4GB rectifiers. Orange and Red channels. Tube or diode rectification. BOLD or SPONGY response.

No modeling. No imitation. No explanation necessary once you hit the first chord.

The ’90s Dual Rectifier is back.
