Bring your MESA/Boogie Express Plus 5:25 back to full strength with a complete replacement tube set built around the amplifier’s original tube complement. This set includes four MESA EL84 power tubes and five MESA 12AX7 preamp tubes, giving you the correct full retube configuration for the Express Plus 5:25.
The MESA/Boogie Express Plus 5:25 is one of MESA’s most versatile compact tube amplifiers, combining multiple voicings, Multi-Watt™ operation, graphic EQ, reverb, and a highly responsive EL84 power section.
Like any all-tube amplifier, its performance depends heavily on the condition of the tubes inside it.
Over time, worn tubes can lead to:
Reduced punch.
Less clarity.
More noise.
Weaker low-end response.
Loss of gain and harmonic detail.
And inconsistent overall performance.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this complete replacement set gives Express Plus 5:25 owners a simple way to refresh the amplifier with the correct tube types.
This set includes:
• 4 × MESA EL84 Power Tubes
• 5 × MESA 12AX7 Preamp Tubes
That matches the factory tube complement used in the MESA/Boogie Express Plus 5:25.
The power section of the Express Plus 5:25 is built around:
4 × MESA EL84 tubes.
EL84s are known for:
Fast response.
Chime.
Midrange presence.
Harmonic richness.
And a more immediate, compressed feel when pushed.
That character is a major part of what separates the 5:25 from the larger 5:50.
Fresh EL84s can help restore the amplifier’s:
Attack.
Clarity.
Punch.
Power-section response.
And the harmonic complexity that makes pushed EL84 amplifiers so engaging.
The Express Plus 5:25 also uses:
5 × MESA 12AX7 preamp tubes.
These tubes play a major role in:
Input gain.
Channel voicing.
Overdrive structure.
Effects-loop operation.
Phase-inverter duties.
And the overall response of the amplifier.
As preamp tubes age, players may begin to notice excess noise, reduced definition, microphonics, inconsistent gain, or a general loss of liveliness.
Replacing the full preamp complement can help restore the amplifier’s intended performance.
Tube wear often happens gradually.
That means a player may not realize how much tone and response has been lost until fresh tubes are installed.
A tired amplifier can begin to sound:
Duller.
Softer.
Noisier.
Less dynamic
Or more compressed than expected.
A complete retube can help restore much of the amplifier’s original feel.
A complete tube set is also useful as preventive maintenance.
You do not have to wait for a tube to fail before replacing it.
For working players, studios, churches, and musicians who depend on their amplifier regularly, having a fresh replacement set available can prevent unnecessary downtime.
At Northeast Music Center, we think that is particularly worthwhile for discontinued MESA models that players plan to keep in service for years to come.
