Available Now at Northeast Music Center!
Keep one of MESA/Boogie’s most legendary amplifiers performing at its best with a complete replacement tube set for the Mark IV. Featuring four MESA 6L6 power tubes and five MESA 12AX7 preamp tubes, this full retube configuration matches the Mark IV’s standard factory tube complement and helps restore the punch, clarity, harmonic complexity, and dynamic response that made this amplifier a genuine MESA icon.
The MESA/Boogie Mark IV occupies a special place in amplifier history. Its combination of three distinct channels, cascading high gain, assignable 5-band graphic EQ, Simul-Class™ power, Pentode/Triode operation, and enormous tonal flexibility helped establish the Mark IV as one of the defining professional guitar amplifiers of its generation.
A great Mark IV deserves great tubes.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this complete replacement set gives Mark IV owners the correct standard tube complement for a full refresh of both the power and preamp sections.
• 4 × MESA 6L6 Power Tubes
• 5 × MESA 12AX7 Preamp Tubes
• 9 tubes total
• Correct standard factory tube complement for the MESA/Boogie Mark IV
• Suitable for Mark IV heads and combos using the standard 6L6 configuration
The standard Mark IV power section uses:
4 × MESA 6L6 power tubes
These tubes are fundamental to the Mark IV’s enormous range.
They help deliver the amplifier’s powerful clean headroom, tight low-frequency response, articulate midrange, singing lead sustain, and the authority associated with the Mark IV’s Simul-Class power section.
When power tubes become tired, the change can happen gradually.
The amplifier may begin to feel softer.
The low end can lose definition.
Clean headroom may decrease.
Attack can become less immediate.
And the amplifier simply may not feel as powerful or responsive as you remember it.
A fresh set of properly selected power tubes can help bring that authority back.
The Mark IV also uses:
5 × MESA 12AX7 preamp tubes
These tubes are integral to the amplifier’s gain stages, channel architecture, effects circuitry, and overall tonal response.
The Mark IV is capable of everything from shimmering Rhythm 1 cleans to crunchy Rhythm 2 sounds and the highly focused cascading gain of its legendary Lead channel.
Healthy preamp tubes help preserve the clarity, definition, gain structure, and low-noise performance required for all of those sounds.
The Mark IV is exactly the kind of amplifier worth maintaining.
Many of these amplifiers have been played for decades, and countless examples remain in studios, touring rigs, rehearsal spaces, and personal collections.
Tube wear doesn't always announce itself with a complete failure.
Instead, you may gradually notice:
Reduced clean headroom
Loss of low-end punch
Less harmonic detail
Increased noise
Microphonic behavior
Inconsistent gain
Reduced sustain
A softer or less immediate response
Because the change happens slowly, it can be surprising how different a familiar amplifier feels after receiving a fresh set of tubes.
You don't have to wait for a tube to fail before servicing a Mark IV.
For working musicians, studios, collectors, and players who rely on these amplifiers regularly, a complete replacement set can be an excellent preventive-maintenance purchase.
It can also be valuable simply to have a complete spare set available.
The Mark IV has been out of production for years, but these amplifiers continue to be played professionally around the world.
They're worth maintaining.
