The standard Mark IV power section uses:
4 × MESA 6L6 power tubes

The standard factory configuration is:

However, the original MESA Mark IV manual also describes alternate configurations, including the use of EL34 power tubes in the two outer power-tube sockets, while retaining 6L6 tubes in the inner sockets.
That alternate arrangement can introduce more of the traditional British-style edge associated with EL34s.
