PRS Custom 24 Limited "Birds Of A Feather" PS Blood Red (s/n:0431983)! Guitar Comes with PRS Black Paisley Hardcase!

Legacy Takes Flight — Private Stock Artistry Meets the Custom 24

Some limited-edition PRS guitars celebrate a color, a wood selection, or a milestone. The 2026 PRS Custom 24 “Birds of a Feather” Limited Edition celebrates something deeper: the evolution of PRS craftsmanship itself.

For the first time ever, PRS has brought its remarkable Birds of a Feather inlay design from the Private Stock world into the Core Series, and it chose exactly the right guitar to carry it—the Custom 24, the model at the foundation of the PRS story. Only 360 instruments will be produced worldwide in 2026, offered in Blood Red, Charcoal Microburst, and Honey Gold. PRS Guitars

This particular Blood Red example, serial number 0431983, pairs that extraordinary fretboard artwork with an Artist Grade Figured Maple top, Mahogany back, Pattern Thin Mahogany neck, PRS DMO pickups, Gen III tremolo, and Phase III locking tuners.

The result is something especially compelling: a guitar with genuine collector significance that remains, first and foremost, an exceptional Custom 24 built to be played.

Available now at Northeast Music Center, serial number 0431983 represents one of just 360 opportunities worldwide to own this chapter in PRS history.

Birds of a Feather — Ten Years in the Making

The story behind this guitar begins with Paul Miles, PRS Director of Manufacturing and head of Private Stock.

Miles designed the Birds of a Feather concept ten years ago as a new interpretation of one of the most recognizable visual signatures in the guitar world: the PRS bird inlays.

Instead of simply changing the shell or material inside the traditional birds, the concept uses woods and negative space to create movement across the fretboard. Miles has explained that his goal was an inlay recognizable from across a room or stage while remaining unmistakably PRS. PRS Guitars

Until now, that design lived in the realm of Private Stock.

For 2026, PRS has allowed it to take flight on a Core instrument for the first time.

And not just any Core instrument.

The Custom 24.

Ebony & Figured Maple Become the Artwork

The Birds of a Feather concept isn't simply an unusual set of fretboard markers.

The fretboard itself is constructed from Ebony and Figured Maple, using the contrast between the two woods to create the Birds of a Feather pattern. PRS Guitars

That's what makes this design so distinctive.

Rather than placing conventional inlays into a single piece of dark fretboard wood, PRS uses the woods themselves as part of the composition.

The result has a sense of movement that changes as your eye travels along the neck.

Up close, you can appreciate the precision required to execute it.

From a distance, it's immediately identifiable.

And sitting above it all is another special touch: the Pre-Factory Eagle headstock logo.

For the PRS collector, there is a lot of history represented in this neck.

Blood Red over Artist Grade Figured Maple

A guitar this special deserves a top to match.

PRS selected Artist Grade Figured Maple for the Birds of a Feather Limited Edition rather than the standard figured maple designation.

On this guitar, that top is presented in Blood Red.

It's a powerful combination.

The deep red coloration emphasizes the movement of the Artist Grade figuring while the dark Ebony elements of the fretboard create a dramatic visual transition into the neck.

The body retains the classic PRS formula beneath the maple with a solid Mahogany back and PRS Violin top carve. PRS Guitars

Everything is finished in High-Gloss Nitro, allowing the depth of the figured maple to remain a central part of the presentation.

This is unmistakably a Custom 24—but certainly not an ordinary one.

The Guitar That Started It All

The choice of the Custom 24 for this anniversary inlay is particularly appropriate.

The Custom was one of the instruments that established PRS in 1985, and the Custom 24 has remained one of the company's defining designs ever since.

Its fundamental formula remains incredibly effective:

24 Frets
25" Scale Length
Mahogany Body
Figured Maple Top
Set Mahogany Neck
Dual Humbuckers
PRS Tremolo

Rather than reinventing that foundation, the Birds of a Feather Limited Edition celebrates it.

PRS took the familiar Custom 24 platform and elevated the materials and presentation around it.

That's one of the reasons this guitar makes so much sense to us at Northeast Music Center. It's collectible because it's unusual—but it's desirable because underneath all of that artistry is still one of the most versatile electric guitars PRS has ever designed.

Pattern Thin Mahogany Neck

The neck remains decidedly player-focused.

PRS uses a one-piece Mahogany neck carved to the popular Pattern Thin profile.

With a 25" scale length, 10" fretboard radius, and 24 frets, the playing geometry will immediately feel familiar to experienced Custom 24 players. PRS Guitars

PRS specifies the Pattern Thin neck at:

53/64" deep at the 1/2 fret
57/64" deep at the 12 1/2 fret
1 11/16" wide at the nut
2 1/4" wide at the body

The result is the fast, comfortable feel that has made Pattern Thin a favorite among players who want easy access across all 24 frets without sacrificing the substantial feel of a set-neck PRS.

DMO Pickups — Dynamic, Musical, Open

The Birds of a Feather Limited Edition is not relying on appearance alone.

PRS equips the guitar with its DMO Treble and Bass pickups.

DMO stands for Dynamic, Musical, Open, and those three words summarize the design objective particularly well. PRS describes them as having a balanced tonal range with a vocal quality, emphasizing clarity and musical response rather than simply output. PRS Guitars

For a Custom 24, that's an excellent match.

This is a guitar expected to move from full-bodied rhythm sounds to articulate lead work, cleaner passages, and more single-coil-inspired textures without losing its identity along the way.

Five-Way Switching — One Guitar, Serious Range

Instead of the push/pull arrangement found on some PRS models, the Birds of a Feather Custom 24 uses the classic Volume, Tone, and 5-Way Blade configuration.

The factory switching provides:

Position 1: Treble Pickup
Position 2: Treble Humbucker + Bass Single Coil
Position 3: Treble + Bass Humbuckers
Position 4: Treble Single Coil + Bass Single Coil
Position 5: Bass Pickup PRS Guitars

That's one of the reasons the Custom 24 has remained such an effective working instrument.

You have full humbucking power at your fingertips, but the intermediate positions introduce clearer, more articulate textures that significantly expand what the guitar can cover.

Rock, blues, progressive music, fusion, pop, alternative, studio work—this is still a guitar designed to handle an enormous musical range.

Gen III Tremolo & Phase III Locking Tuners

PRS completes the performance package with two of its most proven pieces of hardware.

The PRS Patented Tremolo Gen III provides the smooth expressive response players expect from the Custom 24 while maintaining excellent resonance and tuning stability.

At the other end of the strings are PRS Phase III Locking Tuners with Wing Buttons. PRS Guitars

Hardware is finished in Nickel, maintaining a classic presentation against the dramatic Blood Red top.

These aren't ornamental upgrades.

They're part of what allows this highly collectible limited edition to function as a serious stage and studio instrument.

Only 360 Worldwide

And this is where the Birds of a Feather becomes particularly interesting for the collector.

Only 360 pieces are being produced worldwide for 2026. PRS Guitars

That production number matters, but the story behind those 360 guitars matters just as much.

This is the 10th anniversary of the Birds of a Feather design.

It is the first appearance of Birds of a Feather on a PRS Core guitar.

It brings a design previously associated with Private Stock onto the Custom 24.

And it does so on one of the most historically important models PRS has ever produced. PRS Guitars

That's a combination that gives this limited edition an identity beyond simply being scarce.

A Special PRS for Northeast Music Center

For Northeast Music Center, guitars like this have particular meaning.

Our relationship with PRS goes back decades, and our experience encompasses everything from exceptional Core instruments and limited editions to Wood Library and Private Stock.

That history gives us a particular appreciation for what PRS has done here.

The Birds of a Feather design represents ideas and craftsmanship developed through Private Stock filtering into a very special Core instrument. PRS itself describes Private Stock as an incubator for techniques and ideas that can eventually influence Core production. PRS Guitars

That's exactly what you're seeing here.

When you purchase this guitar from Northeast Music Center, you're purchasing the actual instrument represented by serial number 0431983—a Blood Red example from a worldwide production of only 360 guitars.

For the longtime PRS collector, the Custom 24 devotee, or the player who wants something genuinely distinctive without sacrificing the versatility that made the Custom 24 famous, this is a significant instrument.

Legacy takes flight.

And this one is ready to be played.
