This 2014 PRS Custom 24 Semi-Hollow Limited Edition 10 Top in Fire Red (s/n: 210440) comes from an exceptionally small and historically interesting PRS production run. For 2014, PRS took its flagship Custom 24 and, for the first time, created a Core Custom 24 with a chambered semi-hollow body and single f-hole.

Fewer than 200 guitars were produced in this small-batch run, making this a particularly desirable find for the PRS player or collector looking for something outside the normal Custom 24 lineup.

A Rare Chapter in Custom 24 History

The Custom 24 is the guitar at the foundation of PRS. Paul Reed Smith brought the model to the company's first NAMM show in 1985, and its combination of 24-fret playability, versatile electronics, carved maple/mahogany construction, and unmistakable PRS design helped establish the company.

But for decades, one thing the Core Custom 24 had never been was semi-hollow.

That changed with this 2014 Limited Edition small-batch run.

PRS chambered the body and added a single f-hole while deliberately preserving the fundamental character of the Custom 24. The semi-hollow construction adds another dimension of resonance and midrange response without turning the guitar into something completely removed from the familiar Custom 24 experience.

That combination makes this guitar particularly interesting: it isn't simply a Custom 24 with different cosmetics. It represents a genuine variation on PRS's flagship design.

One-Piece 10 Top

This particular guitar becomes even more special when you look at the top.

Rather than a conventional two-piece figured maple top, serial 210440 features a stunning one-piece figured maple 10 Top.

The PRS 10 Top designation is reserved for figured maple tops that meet the company's elevated cosmetic standards, and the uninterrupted figuring of a one-piece top gives this instrument a distinctive visual character.

Combined with the rich Fire Red finish, natural movement of the figured maple, and elegant single f-hole, this is a Custom 24 that immediately stands apart.

Uncovered PRS 59/09 Pickups

PRS equipped this limited run with a pair of uncovered 59/09 treble and bass pickups.

The 59/09 is one of the more muscular voices within the PRS pickup family, combining strong output and harmonic richness with the clarity needed to preserve note separation.

In this semi-hollow platform, they're an especially interesting match. The pickups provide the authority expected from a Custom 24 while allowing the additional resonance and midrange character of the chambered body to come through.

A master Volume, master Tone, and 5-way pickup selector provide a broad range of usable sounds—from full humbucking voices to clearer, more articulate combinations.

Pattern Regular Neck

The mahogany neck uses PRS's Pattern Regular profile and a 25" scale length, retaining the familiar balance between comfort, control, and responsiveness associated with the Custom 24.

The East Indian rosewood fretboard carries 24 frets and PRS Bird inlays, while PRS Phase III locking tuners and the company's patented tremolo complete a hardware package built for serious playing rather than simply display.

Finding one of these limited-production 2014 Semi-Hollow Custom 24s is difficult enough. Finding a one-piece 10 Top example in Excellent Condition makes this guitar considerably more compelling.

This instrument has been previously owned and played, but it has been exceptionally well cared for and remains in Excellent Condition.
