One Guitar. Two Very Different Voices.

What makes this guitar special isn't simply that PRS added a piezo pickup to a Custom 24.

The semi-hollow body brings additional resonance and an open, responsive quality to the familiar Custom 24 platform. The magnetic side is powered by a pair of PRS 85/15 “S” humbuckers, delivering the clarity, definition, and extended frequency response that make these pickups so versatile.

Pull the tone control and the pickups can be coil-tapped for brighter, leaner sounds.

Then there is the LR Baggs/PRS Piezo system, which adds an entirely different dimension. Instead of carrying an electric guitar and an acoustic-electric for different parts of a performance, this guitar allows you to access both types of sounds from one instrument.

Blend Them—or Send Them to Separate Rigs

This is where the SE Custom 24 Semi-Hollow Piezo becomes much more than a conventional electric guitar.

The guitar provides separate magnetic and piezo volume controls along with two output jacks.

Using the Mix/Piezo output, you can blend the magnetic pickups and piezo signal together, creating sounds that combine the body and power of an electric guitar with the articulation and acoustic character of the piezo system.

Or use both outputs simultaneously.

The magnetic pickups can be routed to your traditional guitar amp or pedalboard while the piezo signal is sent independently to an acoustic amplifier, DI, PA, modeler, or other appropriate signal path.

For live players, worship musicians, theater and pit musicians, studio players, cover-band guitarists, or anyone who regularly needs both acoustic and electric textures, that flexibility can be incredibly useful.

And when the magnetic-only output is used by itself, the piezo battery is bypassed—so the magnetic pickups remain operational even if the piezo battery is depleted.

Classic Custom 24 Feel

Even with all that additional capability, this still feels like a PRS Custom 24.

The 25" scale length gives the guitar that familiar PRS balance of comfortable string tension and clear note response. The Wide Thin neck profile, 10" fretboard radius, and 24-fret rosewood board make it comfortable for everything from chords and clean rhythm work to fast lead playing and upper-register solos.

A maple top and flame maple veneer sit over the mahogany back, while the Orange Tiger Smokeburst finish highlights the figure of the top beautifully. The matching headstock veneer, binding, bird inlays, and lampshade knobs complete a guitar that looks considerably more upscale than its SE designation might suggest.

PRS Patented Piezo Tremolo

The PRS tremolo maintains the expressive feel players expect from the Custom 24 platform while incorporating the piezo system directly into the bridge.

That means you don't have to sacrifice tremolo capability to gain acoustic-style sounds—another reason this guitar can cover so much ground in a single instrument.
