Celebrating 30 Years of Jack Gretz & PRS
This exceptional McCarty 594 Trem commemorates a particularly meaningful milestone: 30 years of Jack Gretz selling PRS Guitars, along with 15 years of Northeast Music Center representing PRS.
To commemorate the milestone, this guitar features a special anniversary tremolo cover, giving this already distinctive an additional connection to that history.
That history represents decades of firsthand experience with PRS instruments—from exceptional Core guitars and limited editions to Wood Library and Private Stock creations—and a relationship with the brand that extends well beyond the history of Northeast Music Center itself.
It's not simply another exceptional PRS—it represents a milestone three decades in the making.
The PRS Custom 24 is the guitar that started it all—the instrument at the foundation of Paul Reed Smith's legacy. This extraordinary example takes that legendary platform considerably further, combining the possibilities of the PRS Wood Library program with dealer-selected Artist-grade maple, Brazilian rosewood appointments, McCarty III pickups, and the breathtaking Private Stock Frostbite finish.
Commissioned by Northeast Music Center as part of an extremely limited five-guitar Wood Library collection, this particular instrument is the Private Stock Frostbite example from the run.
Only one guitar in this five-piece Northeast Music Center collection was ordered in Frostbite, giving this instrument its own distinctive identity within an already highly specialized Wood Library run.
Private Stock Frostbite Over Dealer-Selected Artist Flame Maple
The centerpiece of this Custom 24 is its exceptional dealer-selected Artist Flame Maple top, dramatically showcased beneath PRS's Private Stock Frostbite finish.
Frostbite is a spectacular choice for highly figured maple. Its cool, dramatic coloration allows the movement and depth of the flame to remain the visual focus, changing character as the guitar moves through different angles and lighting.
And because figured maple is created by nature rather than duplicated from a pattern, this guitar's top is entirely its own.
The Artist Flame Maple cap is paired with a mahogany back, maintaining the classic maple-and-mahogany foundation that has helped define the Custom 24 for generations.
Visually dramatic. Musically proven. Unmistakably PRS.
Brazilian Rosewood Appointments
The specification becomes even more compelling at the neck.
A mahogany neck with PRS's Pattern Thin profile is paired with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, an especially desirable Wood Library appointment that immediately distinguishes this instrument from a standard-production Custom 24.
Brazilian rosewood continues onto the face of the headstock with a matching Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer, creating a sophisticated visual connection from the body through the headstock.
For knowledgeable PRS enthusiasts and collectors, the inclusion of Brazilian rosewood adds another significant dimension to an already exceptional Wood Library specification.
J-Birds with Abalone & Paua
The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is adorned with PRS J-Birds with Centers, featuring Green Standard Abalone outlines with Paua centers.
The natural shell catches and reflects light differently from every angle, providing an elegant contrast against the dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and beautifully complementing the cool character of the Private Stock Frostbite finish.
It's exactly the kind of detail that separates a thoughtfully specified Wood Library guitar from ordinary production.
McCarty III Pickups — A Distinctive Voice for the Custom 24
Perhaps one of the most interesting decisions made for this Northeast Music Center Wood Library run is its pickup configuration.
Rather than following a conventional Custom 24 formula, this guitar features a pair of covered PRS McCarty III pickups.
The McCarty III set brings clarity, dynamics, articulation, and vintage-informed character to the highly versatile Custom 24 platform. Combined with its mahogany and maple construction, this creates a fascinating meeting point between two important sides of PRS—the performance-driven versatility of the Custom 24 and the musical character associated with the McCarty family.
A volume control, push/pull tone control, and three-way toggle provide an intuitive control layout with additional tonal flexibility available through the push/pull function.
From articulate cleans and expressive blues tones to harmonically rich overdrive and powerful rock sounds, this is a Custom 24 designed to respond directly to the player.
Pattern Thin Playability & PRS Tremolo
The Pattern Thin mahogany neck delivers the fast, comfortable feel that has made this profile a longtime favorite among Custom 24 players.
With 24 frets, the Custom 24's celebrated double-cutaway architecture provides effortless access across the fingerboard, while the PRS tremolo adds another dimension of expression—from subtle vibrato and chord shimmer to more pronounced pitch movement.
Premium Hybrid hardware provides the finishing touch, beautifully complementing the Private Stock Frostbite finish, Artist Flame Maple top, and Brazilian rosewood appointments.
One Frostbite Guitar Within a Five-Piece Collection
This guitar belongs to PRS Wood Library run WL_02819, a collection of only five instruments commissioned by Northeast Music Center.
Each guitar within the collection was specified with its own carefully selected finish:
- Private Stock Bahamian Blue
- Private Stock Dirty Blonde
- Private Stock Frostbite — *(This Guitar)*
- Dark Cherry Burst
- McCarty Sunburst
Rather than ordering five visually identical guitars, Northeast Music Center selected individual finishes designed to reveal the character of each Artist Flame Maple top in a completely different way.
That makes this Private Stock Frostbite Custom 24 the sole Frostbite example within the five-guitar WL_02819 collection.
The Northeast Music Center Wood Library Philosophy
Wood Library is about far more than simply adding options to a guitar.
It's about knowing which combinations belong together.
After decades of experience with PRS guitars, Northeast Music Center approaches Wood Library selections from both a player's and collector's perspective. Woods, pickups, colors, hardware, inlays, and neck specifications should complement one another rather than simply make a specification sheet longer.
This Private Stock Frostbite Custom 24 is a perfect example.
Dealer-selected Artist Flame Maple gives the guitar its visual foundation. Brazilian rosewood elevates its appointments. McCarty III pickups provide a distinctive musical voice. Pattern Thin maintains the performance character players expect from a Custom 24. And Private Stock Frostbite transforms this particular instrument into the unmistakable centerpiece that it is.
The result is unquestionably a Custom 24—but one that could only have been created through the PRS Wood Library program.
For the serious PRS player or collector searching beyond ordinary production specifications, Northeast Music Center is proud to offer this exceptional PRS Custom 24 Wood Library in Private Stock Frostbite—one of only five guitars commissioned for WL_02819 and the only Frostbite example within the collection.
