The PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo is one of those guitars that makes an enormous amount of sense the moment you understand what it can do.
You get the natural resonance and open response of a true hollowbody, the warmth and clarity of PRS 58/15 LT “S” humbuckers, and an integrated LR Baggs/PRS Piezo system capable of producing an entirely different acoustic-style voice. Use either system independently, blend them together, or route them to separate signal chains.
Finished in timeless Vintage Sunburst, this particular Hollowbody II Piezo has a more traditional personality than some of the bolder PRS finishes—and we think that suits the instrument beautifully.
At Northeast Music Center, this is one we'd recommend to the player looking for much more than simply a hollowbody electric. It's a genuine multi-voice instrument built to move comfortably between electric and acoustic-style territory.
There's something about Vintage Sunburst that simply works on a hollowbody guitar.
Rather than competing with the traditional lines of the instrument, the finish complements them. The darker perimeter frames the figured maple beautifully while the warmer center brings out the depth and movement of the top.
Add the twin F-holes, ebony fretboard, PRS bird inlays and nickel hardware, and the result feels elegant without trying too hard.
It's unmistakably PRS, but there's also a timeless quality here that should age exceptionally well.
The Hollowbody II uses maple for both the top and back with mahogany through the middle section.
That combination is central to the personality of the instrument.
The maple contributes articulation and definition, while the mahogany helps provide warmth and body. Hollowbody construction allows the entire instrument to respond in a way you can both hear and feel.
Even before plugging in, there's an acoustic liveliness to the guitar.
Once amplified, that resonance becomes part of the character of the magnetic pickups rather than simply disappearing behind them.
PRS equips the Hollowbody II Piezo with a pair of 58/15 LT “S” humbuckers.
The “LT” stands for Low Turn, reflecting the vintage-inspired approach behind these pickups.
Rather than overwhelming the natural voice of the hollowbody with excessive output, the 58/15 LT “S” pickups emphasize warmth, clarity and musical definition.
The bridge position has enough focus and presence for articulate rhythm playing, blues, classic rock and lead work.
The neck pickup brings out the warmer side of the instrument beautifully, making it an excellent choice for clean passages, jazz voicings, blues and smooth lead tones.
A traditional 3-way toggle keeps magnetic pickup selection simple:
And that's only the electric half of the instrument.
Built into the PRS Adjustable “Piezo” Stoptail are six individual piezo-equipped saddles working with proprietary LR Baggs/PRS electronics.
Instead of trying to make the magnetic pickups imitate an acoustic guitar, the piezo system captures the strings directly from the bridge and provides its own acoustic-style character.
The guitar gives you separate Magnetic Volume and Piezo Volume controls, making it easy to determine how much of each voice you want.
Use the magnetic pickups alone for traditional electric tones.
Bring up the piezo for acoustic-style sounds.
Or blend the two together.
That last option is where things become particularly interesting. Adding piezo character underneath the magnetic pickups can introduce additional attack, dimension and clarity that you simply don't get from a conventional electric guitar.
For live and studio use, the dual-output system is one of the Hollowbody II Piezo's most valuable features.
Plug into the Mix/Piezo output and both pickup systems can share a single signal path. Adjust the balance between the magnetic pickups and piezo directly from the guitar.
Or use both outputs simultaneously.
Send the 58/15 LT “S” humbuckers to your electric guitar amplifier, pedalboard or modeler.
At the same time, send the piezo signal to an acoustic amplifier, DI, PA system or separate recording input.
That gives a player the ability to create two completely different signal paths from one instrument.
There's also a clever safeguard built into the design: when you're using the magnetic output by itself, the piezo battery is bypassed. The magnetic pickups continue operating even if the piezo battery is depleted.
For a working musician, that's thoughtful engineering.
The Wide Fat neck profile complements the Hollowbody II extremely well.
It has enough depth to feel substantial and supportive without becoming cumbersome, making it particularly comfortable for chord work, fingerstyle playing, blues, jazz and expressive lead playing.
PRS's familiar 25" scale length strikes a comfortable balance between string tension and note definition.
The 10" radius ebony fretboard adds a smooth, precise playing surface, while 22 frets and classic PRS bird inlays complete the feel and appearance.

The real strength of the PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo isn't simply that it can produce a lot of sounds.
It's that those sounds can be genuinely useful.
The 58/15 LT “S” humbuckers give you a complete hollowbody electric guitar with warmth, clarity and definition.
The LR Baggs/PRS Piezo system gives you an entirely different acoustic-style voice.
Blend the two for sounds a conventional electric can't produce—or route them separately when the gig or recording session demands something more sophisticated.
For the working musician, songwriter, studio player, worship guitarist, jazz player, or anyone who regularly moves between electric and acoustic textures, the Hollowbody II Piezo can replace a surprising amount of gear.
And this Vintage Sunburst example gives you all of that versatility in one of the most timeless-looking finishes PRS offers.
