Some limited-edition guitars begin with a new finish. The PRS Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition in Arles Blue began with something far more personal: John Mayer's own Arles Blue Defender.

Created through a collaboration between PRS Guitars, John Mayer, and Defender, this special 2026 Silver Sky brings together two designs known for developing identities far beyond their original purpose. For Mayer, the connection was especially natural. His appreciation for Defender—and particularly the distinctive colors associated with the marque—became the starting point for an extremely limited collection of U.S.-made Silver Sky guitars.

The result is something genuinely different, and Northeast Music Center is proud to offer this extraordinary limited-edition Silver Sky.

The Color That Started the Collection

Arles Blue isn't simply one of the four colors in the Defender collection—it is the color that helped inspire the project.

Mayer's own Arles Blue Defender, which he has owned for nearly two decades, provided the initial inspiration. From there, four heritage Defender colors were selected for the U.S.-made Silver Sky: Arles Blue, Willow Green, Portofino Red, and Sandglow Yellow.

Arles Blue evokes open skies, coastal roads, and the freedom of taking the long way home—a color connected to an era when the journey itself became part of the adventure.

On the Silver Sky, that heritage color takes on an entirely new personality. The combination of the Arles Blue body, matching painted headstock, white pickguard, and white controls gives this instrument an immediately recognizable appearance while retaining the unmistakable design language of the Silver Sky.

And this isn't an unlimited production color.

Only 500 Arles Blue guitars will be available worldwide.

Each instrument receives a unique neck plate identifying its Arles Blue finish and carrying the “1 of 500” designation.

More Than a Special Color

PRS went considerably further than applying a Defender-inspired finish to a standard instrument.

Every U.S.-made Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition receives a matching painted headstock, a distinctive detail reserved for select limited-edition Silver Sky models. The white plastics complement the heritage Defender-inspired color palette, while the special neck plate incorporates the Defender branding, individual color designation, and limited-production marking.

The presentation continues with an exclusive PRS ATA Molded Case featuring a custom Defender badge.

The Silver Sky Underneath It All

As special as the Defender treatment is, underneath it remains the instrument John Mayer and PRS developed around the sound, response, and playing characteristics of the vintage guitars that inspired them—refined through PRS design and craftsmanship.

The foundation begins with an alder solidbody paired with a maple bolt-on neck and rosewood fretboard.

The familiar 25.5" scale length is combined with a vintage-inspired 7.25" fretboard radius, 22 PRS Medium frets, and the 635 JM-R neck shape. Small PRS bird inlays provide an unmistakable PRS visual signature without taking away from the instrument's vintage-influenced personality.

It's a combination that connects traditional single-coil guitar feel with the details and execution players have come to expect from a Maryland-built PRS.

Three PRS 635JM Single-Coils

The electronics remain one of the defining elements of the Silver Sky.

Three PRS 635JM single-coil pickups are controlled by a traditional 5-way blade selector with one volume and two tone controls.

The 635JM pickups deliver a full, warm, vintage-inspired single-coil character, with a musical high end designed to remain articulate without becoming overly brash or piercing.

The five-way configuration provides the familiar range players expect from a three-single-coil instrument—from articulate individual pickup sounds to the distinctive combined neck/middle and middle/bridge positions.

That versatility is a major reason the Silver Sky has become much more than simply an artist-signature instrument. It is a guitar designed to cover a tremendous amount of musical territory while retaining its own recognizable voice.

PRS Steel Tremolo & Locking Tuners

The Silver Sky Defender features the PRS Steel Tremolo, incorporating PRS Gen III knife-edge screws and the company's tremolo-arm design.

At the other end of the instrument are vintage-style closed-back locking tuners. They retain the traditional appearance appropriate to the Silver Sky while incorporating PRS's locking system.

A bone nut, nickel hardware, and PRS Signature 10-46 strings complete the factory configuration.
