Created through the collaboration between PRS Guitars, John Mayer, and Defender, the 2026 Silver Sky Defender Color Collection takes four heritage Defender finishes and gives them an entirely new canvas. There is something particularly fitting about seeing that color transferred to a guitar.

On the Silver Sky, Sandglow Yellow feels simultaneously vintage and completely unexpected. Against the white pickguard, white pickup covers, and white control knobs, the finish immediately stands apart from more traditional guitar colors while still looking completely at home on the familiar lines of the Silver Sky.

The color doesn't stop at the body, either.

PRS carries Sandglow Yellow onto the matching painted headstock, creating a visual connection from one end of the instrument to the other.

White plastics were specifically paired with the heritage Defender finishes, providing the same type of contrasting visual treatment that helped inspire the design language of the collection.

Every U.S.-made Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition includes a PRS ATA Molded Case with a custom Defender badge.

A U.S.-Made Silver Sky Beneath the Defender Details

The Defender collaboration gives this guitar its unique identity, but the foundation remains the U.S.-made Silver Sky developed by John Mayer and PRS.

That means the Sandglow Yellow edition isn't simply intended to be admired in a collection. It was designed to be played.

An alder solidbody provides the foundation, paired with a maple bolt-on neck and rosewood fretboard.

The 635 JM-R neck shape combines with a 25.5" scale length and vintage-inspired 7.25" fretboard radius. The rosewood board carries 22 PRS Medium frets along with the familiar Small Bird inlays.

The result is a specification package deliberately rooted in the feel and response of the vintage instruments that inspired the Silver Sky, while incorporating the consistency and detail that define a Maryland-built PRS.

Three PRS 635JM Single-Coil Pickups

At the heart of the Silver Sky are three PRS 635JM single-coil pickups.

These pickups were designed around a full, warm, vintage-inspired single-coil voice with a musical top end that avoids becoming excessively sharp or brash.

PRS Steel Tremolo

The bridge is PRS's Steel Tremolo, a classic design updated with PRS Gen III knife-edge screws and PRS's tremolo-arm design.

It gives the player expressive pitch control while remaining completely appropriate to the vintage-inspired personality of the Silver Sky.

A bone nut and nickel hardware round out the system.

Vintage Appearance — Modern Locking Convenience

The Sandglow Yellow Defender also features PRS Vintage-Style Locking Tuners.
