MESA/Boogie 1x12 Vintage Thiele Speaker Cabinet – Black Bronco / Black Grille
Compact dimensions. Serious low-end authority. A UK-made Celestion C90. The legendary MESA Thiele cabinet is back—and it remains one of the smartest ways to make a compact guitar rig sound considerably bigger.
The MESA/Boogie 1x12 Vintage Thiele brings back one of the most recognizable compact cabinet designs from classic Boogie history. Originally introduced in the early 1980s as a companion to Boogie combos and compact heads, the Thiele earned its reputation by delivering the kind of focused fundamental, punch and low-end authority players normally expect from a much larger enclosure.
Today's Vintage Thiele pairs that proven closed-back, front-ported architecture with MESA's proprietary UK-made Celestion C90, creating a compact 1x12 that can complement everything from a Mark IIC+ to virtually any Mark Series head or combo.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this Black Bronco / Black Grille version delivers classic Boogie appearance, exceptional portability and a surprisingly authoritative voice.

THE CELESTION C90 — AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE SOUND
At the heart of the Vintage Thiele is a proprietary Celestion C90, manufactured in the UK specifically for MESA/Boogie.
With 90 watts of power handling, the C90 provides substantial headroom for a single 12-inch speaker while maintaining the musical response necessary to work across a wide range of MESA tones.
Clean sounds retain clarity and dimension. Driven tones remain full and responsive. Push into serious Mark Series gain and the C90 has the power handling and definition necessary to keep complex passages articulate.
The speaker also brings a somewhat more forgiving, overdrive-friendly personality to the Vintage Thiele than the Electro-Voice speaker associated with the original design.
That makes today's cabinet exceptionally versatile for both classic and contemporary guitar sounds.
WHY A THIELE CABINET SOUNDS BIGGER THAN IT LOOKS
The cabinet itself is every bit as important as the speaker.
Unlike a conventional open-back 1x12, the Vintage Thiele uses a closed-back, front-ported enclosure engineered to produce a focused and authoritative low-frequency response.
That front port allows the enclosure and speaker to work together in a way that reinforces the fundamental and adds the tight, percussive low-end punch for which the Thiele became known.
The result can be surprising the first time you hear one.
This is still a compact 1x12 cabinet—but it doesn't behave like an ordinary small cabinet.
There's girth, focus and physical punch that makes the rig feel substantially larger without requiring you to transport a 2x12 or 4x12.
A NATURAL PARTNER FOR THE MARK SERIES
The Vintage Thiele is especially compelling underneath a compact MESA Mark Series head.
At 18 3/4 inches wide, it visually complements compact Mark Series amplifiers beautifully, including the Mark IIC+.
It can also be used alongside an open-back Mark Series combo or cabinet. That's an especially interesting combination because each enclosure contributes something different: the open-back cabinet supplies spacious dispersion and dimensionality while the Thiele contributes focused low end and punch.
Instead of simply making the rig louder, you're expanding its sonic character.
At Northeast Music Center, that's one of the reasons we consider the Vintage Thiele much more than another extension cabinet. It's a legitimate tone-shaping component within a complete amplifier system
BUILT LIKE A MESA
MESA constructs the Vintage Thiele from marine-grade Baltic birch plywood, continuing the substantial cabinet construction that has been part of the company's amplifier philosophy for decades.
The speaker is front-mounted, the cabinet provides a paralleled Mono Output jack for additional cabinet configurations, and a fitted slipcover is included.
Despite its compact 18 3/4" x 15 3/4" footprint, the cabinet weighs a substantial 36 pounds—a reflection of its speaker, enclosure design and serious construction.
This isn't a lightweight box built merely for convenience.
It's a genuine MESA cabinet engineered to produce serious guitar tone.
CLASSIC BLACK BRONCO / BLACK GRILLE
Finished in Black Bronco with a Black Grille, this version delivers the timeless Boogie appearance that works beautifully beneath virtually any traditional MESA head.
It's understated, professional and unmistakably MESA.
For the Mark Series player looking for more low-end authority, the combo owner wanting to expand an open-back rig, or anyone who wants the punch of a larger cabinet without giving up the portability of a 1x12, the Vintage Thiele deserves serious consideration.
Northeast Music Center is proud to offer MESA/Boogie cabinets to players who understand that the speaker enclosure is not an afterthought—it is one of the most important components in the final sound of an amplifier.
One UK-made Celestion C90. 90 watts. 8 ohms. Front-ported Thiele construction. 36 pounds of genuine MESA cabinet engineering.
Small cabinet. Very big Boogie.
