MESA/Boogie Badlander 25 1x12 All-Tube Combo Amplifier
The Rectifier attitude of the Badlander in a compact 25/10-watt EL84 combo. Two independent channels, Clean/Crunch/Crush modes, a Celestion Creamback 65, CabClone IR, and the tight, immediate response that defines the Badlander—all in a remarkably portable 1x12 package.
The MESA/Boogie Badlander 25 1x12 Combo takes the Badlander concept and gives it a personality all its own.
This isn't simply a lower-powered Badlander 50 or 100.
Its pair of EL84 power tubes adds a different harmonic character and response, while the 25/10-watt Dyna-Watt power section makes it exceptionally well suited to players who don't need the massive horsepower of a 100-watt head.
And MESA didn't compromise the important features to make it smaller.
You still get two independent channels, Clean, Crunch, and Crush on both channels, a tube-driven effects loop, and the remarkably useful CabClone IR system with internal load for cabinet-free operation.
Available from Northeast Music Center, the Badlander 25 is an outstanding choice for the guitarist who wants serious MESA gain and feel in a compact amplifier that's equally comfortable at home, in the studio, at rehearsal, or on stage.

CELESTION CREAMBACK 65 — A BIG PART OF THIS COMBO'S VOICE
This specification deserves to be immediately visible to anyone shopping for this amplifier.
The Badlander 25 Combo is loaded with a:
12" Celestion Creamback 65 – 8 Ohms
That's a very deliberate choice.
The Badlander combines American MESA high-gain authority with a noticeable British influence, and the Creamback complements that personality beautifully.
It gives the amplifier strong midrange character, warmth, harmonic complexity, and enough power handling to let the Badlander 25 work without the speaker becoming the weak link.
Crunch sounds have body and texture.
High-gain rhythm tones retain authority.
Lead tones have a strong vocal quality.
And clean sounds have considerably more dimension than you might expect from an amplifier carrying the Rectifier name.
At Northeast Music Center, we consider the speaker part of the amplifier's voice—not merely a component behind the grille.
THE BADLANDER APPROACH TO RECTIFIER TONE
The Badlander was born from something MESA heard repeatedly from longtime Rectifier players:
They wanted the authority and gain of a Rectifier, but with tighter low end, a more refined top end, less mid scoop, and a faster overall response.
That's the Badlander philosophy.
It still sounds unmistakably like a serious MESA.
But the low frequencies are controlled.
The mids are more present.
The response feels immediate.
Fast picking remains articulate.
Palm-muted riffs hit hard without becoming loose.
Complex chords retain separation even as gain increases.
For modern rock and high-gain players, that combination is extremely compelling.
CLEAN / CRUNCH / CRUSH — TWICE
One of the smartest features of the entire Badlander family is MESA's Channel Cloning concept.
Both channels give you the same three modes:
CLEAN
CRUNCH
CRUSH
That means MESA doesn't dictate what each channel must do.
You could configure:
Channel 1 – Clean
Channel 2 – Crush
That's the obvious setup.
But you could just as easily run:
Channel 1 – Crunch
Channel 2 – Crunch
with completely different gain, EQ, presence, master-volume, and IR settings.
Or:
Channel 1 – Crush Rhythm
Channel 2 – Crush Lead
That's what makes Channel Cloning so useful.
You decide what the two channels become.
CLEAN — DON'T UNDERESTIMATE IT
It's easy to look at the Badlander name and assume this is simply a high-gain amplifier.
It isn't.
Clean gives the Badlander a surprisingly useful foundation for pedals, clean rhythm work, atmospheric playing, and pushed clean sounds.
And because each channel has its own full EQ and Presence controls, you aren't compromising your high-gain settings to get there.
CRUNCH — POSSIBLY THE SECRET WEAPON
Crunch may be the mode that surprises players most.
There's a tremendous range between edge-of-breakup and muscular rock overdrive.
Classic rock.
Alternative.
Punk.
Hard rock.
Heavy blues.
Modern rock.
The EL84 power section complements this mode particularly well, adding harmonic character and responsiveness that distinguish the Badlander 25 from its larger siblings.
CRUSH — WHERE THE BADLANDER EARNS ITS NAME
Then there's Crush.
This is the serious high-gain voice.
Tight.
Aggressive.
Fast.
Saturated.
But most importantly:
Defined.
The goal isn't simply to generate enormous amounts of distortion.
The Badlander is about maintaining articulation inside the gain.
For fast rhythm playing, lower tunings, progressive music, modern metal, or any player who wants saturation without sacrificing definition, that's an important distinction.
25 WATTS OR 10 WATTS — TWO DIFFERENT FEELS
The global power switch gives the Badlander 25 two operating modes.
25 WATTS — DYNA-WATT
Both EL84s operate in MESA's proprietary Dyna-Watt Class A/B Pentode configuration, delivering maximum punch, power, and clarity.
This is the setting for greater authority and headroom.
10 WATTS — TRIODE
Switch to 10 watts and the two EL84s operate in Class A/B Triode, producing a sweeter, softer, more harmonically rich response.
That's an important distinction.
This isn't simply:
LOUD / QUIET.
The two settings actually change the response and character of the output section.
That makes the 10-watt setting useful for more than bedroom volume. It's another tonal option.
CABCLONE IR — BUILT RIGHT IN
This is where the Badlander 25 becomes considerably more sophisticated than a conventional compact tube combo.
MESA includes its CabClone IR Direct Interface.
The system provides eight MESA cabinet impulse responses, USB connectivity for transferring IRs, a balanced XLR direct output, headphone output, output-level control, Ground/Lift, and channel-assignable IR selection.
That means your Clean channel can use one cabinet IR while your Crush channel uses another.
And there's an even bigger feature:
Internal amplifier load.
YES — YOU CAN USE IT WITHOUT THE SPEAKER
The internal load allows the Badlander 25 to operate without a physical speaker connected when correctly configured.
That's extremely useful for recording.
You're still generating your sound with:
5 × 12AX7 preamp tubes
feeding:
2 × EL84 power tubes
but instead of having to microphone the physical Creamback, you can send the CabClone IR signal directly to your recording system or front-of-house.
That gives you a real tube amplifier with modern direct-recording convenience.
And when you want the physical experience of an amplifier moving air?
Reconnect the Celestion Creamback 65.
COMPACT — BUT STILL A REAL BOOGIE
The Badlander 25 measures only:
17⅞" high × 19" wide × 11⅛" deep
and weighs 40 lbs.
That's a very manageable package considering what's inside.
Two EL84s.
Five 12AX7s.
A Creamback 65.
Two independent channels.
Six total channel/mode possibilities.
Tube-driven effects loop.
CabClone IR.
Internal load.
And a marine-grade Baltic birch enclosure.
This isn't a practice amp masquerading as professional equipment.
It's a professional MESA scaled to a more manageable power range and physical size.
WHO SHOULD BUY THE BADLANDER 25?
This is where I think the Badlander 25 makes a particularly strong argument.
Not every guitarist needs 100 watts.
And choosing 25 watts doesn't necessarily mean choosing less amplifier.
For a player who records frequently, plays clubs and smaller venues, rehearses at sensible volumes, or simply wants an amplifier that's easier to move, the Badlander 25 may actually be the more useful Badlander.
You still get the essential preamp architecture and modern recording features of the family.
But the EL84 power section gives this version its own character.
MESA itself says that while choosing a favorite among the Badlander models isn't easy, the 25 wins for attitude and ease of transport.
At Northeast Music Center, we think that's exactly the right way to look at it.
Don't think of this as the small Badlander.
Think of it as the EL84 Badlander.
That's what makes it different.
And Northeast Music Center is proud to offer it to players who want serious Rectifier-inspired MESA performance without automatically jumping into a 50- or 100-watt platform.
25/10 watts. Two EL84s. Two channels. Clean, Crunch and Crush on both. One Celestion Creamback 65. CabClone IR. Internal load.
Big Badlander attitude in a remarkably compact Boogie.
