MESA/Boogie Fillmore 50 1x12 Combo Amplifier - Wine Taurus w/ Wicker Grille
Vintage-inspired MESA tone wrapped in one of the most elegant Fillmore combinations we've seen. Finished in rich Wine Taurus with a classic Wicker Grille, this MESA/Boogie Fillmore 50 combines expressive 6L6 power, two completely independent channels, three selectable voices per channel, lush all-tube spring reverb, and a Celestion Custom 90 speaker in a beautifully distinctive 1x12 combo.
The MESA/Boogie Fillmore 50 represents a different side of MESA.
Rather than chasing extreme gain or complex switching, the Fillmore was created around the expressive qualities players associate with great vintage tube amplifiers:
Warmth.
Touch sensitivity.
Dynamic response.
Natural overdrive.
Beautiful cleans.
But MESA didn't simply recreate an amplifier from the past.
The Fillmore takes that vintage-inspired philosophy and adds the flexibility of two fully independent channels, MESA's Channel Cloning™, switchable Full/Half power, independent reverb controls, Master Volume controls, and a professional effects loop.
Then there's this particular amplifier.
Wine Taurus. Wicker Grille.
It's a gorgeous combination that complements the Fillmore's vintage personality beautifully and gives the amplifier the appearance of something considerably more special than the standard black combo.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this Fillmore 50 is for the player who wants an amplifier that sounds inspiring before the first pedal is ever switched on—and looks every bit as good as it sounds.

A DIFFERENT SIDE OF MESA/BOOGIE
MESA/Boogie earned much of its reputation through amplifiers capable of extraordinary gain and control.
But that isn't the entire MESA story.
The Fillmore reaches toward the company's earliest roots—when Randall Smith was modifying and building amplifiers around touch, sustain, harmonic richness, and the interaction between the guitar and the player.
The Fillmore 50 feels intentionally straightforward.
Plug in.
Set the controls.
Play.
And listen to how the amplifier responds.
There is plenty of versatility here, but the versatility doesn't get between the guitarist and the amplifier.
That's an important distinction.
TWO CHANNELS — EACH WITH CLEAN, DRIVE & HI
This is where the Fillmore becomes far more flexible than its vintage appearance suggests.
Both channels offer the same three selectable modes:
CLEAN
DRIVE
HI
That's MESA's Channel Cloning™ concept.
Rather than deciding that Channel 1 must always be clean and Channel 2 must always be overdriven, MESA lets the player decide what each channel should do.
Want:
Clean / Drive?
Absolutely.
Clean / HI?
Done.
Drive / HI?
You can do that too.
Or set both channels to the same fundamental mode with different Gain, EQ, Reverb, Presence, and Master settings.
That opens up an enormous amount of practical flexibility.
CLEAN — OPEN, DYNAMIC & EXPRESSIVE
The Clean mode establishes the Fillmore's foundation.
It's open.
Dimensional.
Responsive.
And wonderfully sensitive to the guitar.
Single coils retain sparkle and articulation.
Humbuckers sound full without immediately becoming congested.
Turn the guitar down and the amplifier follows.
Dig into the strings and the sound becomes larger and more authoritative.
This is the kind of clean platform that can make a player rediscover the personality of different guitars.
DRIVE — WHERE THE FILLMORE GETS ADDICTIVE
Move into Drive, and the amplifier begins revealing another side of its personality.
This is where clean tone begins transitioning naturally into harmonic saturation.
Blues.
Roots.
Classic rock.
Americana.
Country-rock.
Edge-of-breakup rhythm.
Singing lead tones.
Drive isn't simply a distortion setting added on top of the clean channel.
It feels like a natural extension of the amplifier's fundamental voice.
That's exactly what you want from a vintage-inspired tube amplifier.
HI — MORE GAIN WITHOUT LOSING THE AMP
The HI mode takes the Fillmore farther into saturation.
But this is still a Fillmore.
The goal isn't Rectifier-style aggression.
Instead, HI provides additional sustain, harmonic complexity, and overdrive while retaining the organic response that defines the amplifier.
This is where thicker rock tones and more saturated lead sounds become available.
And because both channels can access HI independently, you're free to build the amplifier around your own playing style rather than someone else's idea of how Channel 1 and Channel 2 should work.
6L6 POWER
The Fillmore 50 uses:
2 × MESA 6L6 power tubes.
That choice is fundamental to the amplifier's personality.
6L6s are closely associated with classic American amplifier tones—big cleans, strong low-end authority, open highs, and a broad dynamic response.
As they're pushed, they bring warmth and harmonic complexity without losing the fundamental size of the sound.
That's an ideal foundation for what the Fillmore is trying to accomplish.
DYNA-WATT™ FULL / HALF POWER
MESA gives the Fillmore 50 a global:
FULL / HALF POWER
switch.
But this does more than simply make the amplifier louder or quieter.
In Full Power, the two 6L6s operate in Class A/B Pentode, producing:
40 Watts Clean / 60 Watts Maximum.
Switch to Half Power and the amplifier changes to Class A/B Triode, producing:
20 Watts Clean / 28 Watts Maximum.
The feel changes along with the available power.
Full Power delivers greater punch, authority, and clean headroom.
Half Power becomes sweeter, softer, and easier to push.
That makes the switch a tonal tool—not simply a volume control.
ALL-TUBE LONG-TANK SPRING REVERB
The Fillmore includes the kind of reverb this amplifier deserves:
All-Tube Long-Tank Spring Reverb.
Better still, each channel has its own independent Reverb control.
That means you aren't forced into one global reverb setting.
You can create a spacious clean channel and keep your driven channel comparatively dry.
Or reverse it.
Or use subtle ambience on both.
The reverb becomes part of each individual channel rather than an effect simply placed across the entire amplifier.
CELESTION CUSTOM 90
The speaker is an important part of the Fillmore 50's voice.
MESA pairs the combo with:
1 × 12" Celestion Custom 90
at:
8 Ohms.
The C90 gives the Fillmore substantial headroom and a broad, balanced response that works beautifully with the amplifier's range of clean and overdriven tones.
It has enough authority to let the 6L6 power section breathe while retaining the articulation necessary for the amplifier's more nuanced lower-gain sounds.
For a combo designed to cover this much territory, it's an excellent speaker choice.
BUILT FOR PEDALS
The Fillmore 50 can also make an exceptional pedal platform.
Start with the Clean mode and let your pedalboard create the gain structure.
Or set Drive near the edge of breakup and use boosts and overdrives to push the amplifier itself.
Those approaches create very different results.
The amplifier's strong clean foundation, responsive midrange, and dynamic power section give pedals room to retain their own personalities.
For the player who has spent years building a carefully selected pedalboard, that's important.
FULLY BUFFERED SERIES EFFECTS LOOP
MESA also includes a:
Fully Buffered Series Effects Loop.
This gives delays, reverbs, modulation, and other time-based effects a proper place in the signal chain when you're generating more of your gain from the amplifier itself.
That's one of the Fillmore's strengths.
It can feel vintage.
But it doesn't force you to accept all of the limitations of an actual vintage amplifier.
WINE TAURUS & WICKER — THIS ONE DESERVES TO BE SEEN
The cosmetics deserve more than a footnote.
This Fillmore is finished in:
Wine Taurus
with a:
Wicker Grille.
The deep Wine Taurus covering gives the amplifier a rich, sophisticated appearance, while the Wicker Grille adds warmth and unmistakable vintage character.
Against the Fillmore's traditional control layout and compact cabinet proportions, the combination works beautifully.
It's elegant without becoming flashy.
Distinctive without looking excessive.
Vintage-inspired without pretending to be an antique.
For a player who wants an amplifier that becomes part of the visual character of a studio, music room, or stage, this configuration has real presence.
45 POUNDS — A VERY MANAGEABLE PROFESSIONAL COMBO
The Fillmore 50 weighs:
45 lbs.
Its dimensions are:
17⅞" High
22¾" Wide
10⅛" Deep.
That's a remarkably manageable footprint for a professional 6L6-powered 1x12 combo.
It has enough cabinet volume to sound substantial without turning into an oversized amplifier that's difficult to transport.
For rehearsals.
Recording.
Club stages.
Theater work.
Church.
Home.
Or simply an exceptional amplifier to keep beside you every day.
The Fillmore 50 fits comfortably into a wide range of playing environments.
HAND-WIRED IN PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA
The Fillmore 50 is:
Hand-Wired in Petaluma, California.
MESA constructs the combo cabinet from marine-grade Baltic birch and houses the amplifier in an aluminum chassis.
That's an important part of what you're buying.
The Fillmore may look back toward simpler amplifier designs for its inspiration, but it's built as professional MESA equipment.
At Northeast Music Center, that's one of the reasons we believe the Fillmore deserves attention from players who may never have considered themselves traditional MESA players.
FOR THE PLAYER WHO THINKS MESA MEANS HIGH GAIN
This might be the amplifier that changes that perception.
The Fillmore 50 isn't trying to compete with a Dual Rectifier.
It isn't trying to be a Mark VII.
It doesn't need to.
It's designed around another side of the electric guitar.
Touch.
Dynamics.
Warmth.
Natural breakup.
Spring reverb.
And the relationship between the player's hands, guitar, speaker, and power tubes.
At Northeast Music Center, we'd recommend the Fillmore 50 to the player who wants an amplifier that can deliver gorgeous cleans, beautifully organic drive, and enough gain for serious rock tones without losing the feel and character of a great traditional tube amp.
And in Wine Taurus with Wicker Grille, this particular Fillmore has something extra.
It doesn't just sound special.
It looks special.
Two channels. Three modes per channel. Two 6L6s. One Celestion Custom 90. Wine Taurus. Wicker Grille.
A beautifully distinctive version of one of MESA/Boogie's most expressive amplifiers.
