New for 2026! MESA/Boogie Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II
THIS FEATURE-RICH BASS DI PREAMP PEDAL FROM MESA/Boogie IS A COMPLETE PEDALBOARD SOLUTION
The MESA Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II is a compact, full-featured evolution of our highly acclaimed first-generation Subway bass preamp pedals. It combines the strengths of our original two models into a single design with an expanded yet streamlined feature set — delivering all the tone-shaping tools you need (and nothing you don’t) to achieve the sound, feel, and response that have made the Subway Series leaders in premium bass tone.
Big MESA bass tone, serious studio and stage connectivity, and powerful tone shaping—all in a remarkably compact pedalboard-friendly preamp.
The MESA/Boogie Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II takes the proven tone and functionality of MESA's acclaimed Subway bass amplification platform and puts it into an incredibly useful compact DI/preamp. Derived from the Subway D-350, D-800 and D-800+ preamp designs, the Subway+ II gives working bassists the control they need without turning the pedal into a complicated workstation.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this is the kind of bass tool that can become the center of an entire rig: use it as your tone-shaping preamp, professional DI, headphone practice solution, recording front end, or even keep it in your gig bag as an emergency direct-to-PA backup.

SERIOUS MESA TONE SHAPING
The Subway+ II goes well beyond the capabilities of a basic bass DI.
Its fully active 4-band EQ provides ±12dB of Bass, Low-Mid, High-Mid and Treble adjustment, but MESA adds something particularly valuable for players who need to solve real-world tone problems: both mid bands feature sweepable frequency controls.
The Low-Mid section can be swept from 150Hz to 1800Hz, while the High-Mid section covers 300Hz to 5000Hz.
That means you're not simply adding or removing a predetermined midrange frequency. You can locate the frequencies that give your bass body, growl, definition or unwanted congestion and shape them appropriately for the instrument, room and mix.
VARIABLE HIGH-PASS FILTER — A POWERFUL TOOL FOR LIVE BASS
One of the most valuable controls on the Subway+ II may also be one of the least glamorous: its 30Hz–150Hz variable High-Pass Filter.
Ultra-low frequencies can consume amplifier headroom and create unnecessary rumble without actually improving the musical low end of your bass. The variable HPF lets you control that information and tune the bottom end to the bass, cabinet, stage and room.
For a working bassist dealing with different venues and sound systems, that's an extremely useful feature.
FROM CLEAN AND ROUND TO AGGRESSIVE AND PRESENT
MESA also gives you several fast ways to change the personality of your sound.
The Variable Voicing control moves the overall response from flatter and more neutral toward a vintage-inspired scooped character. Engage Deep for additional low-end roundness or Bright when you need more attack, clarity and sparkle.
Separate Gain and Master controls provide additional control over the preamp's response, while the footswitchable variable Boost gives you an immediate level change for solos, featured passages or simply pushing your sound forward when the arrangement demands it.
BUILT FOR THE STAGE, STUDIO AND PRACTICE ROOM
Connectivity is where the Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II becomes especially useful.
Its professional balanced XLR DI output provides Pre/Post EQ selection and Ground Lift, making it easy to send a clean or fully shaped MESA signal directly to front-of-house, a monitor system or recording interface.
The 1/4" preamp output can operate as either an unbalanced TS or fully balanced TRS output, giving the Subway+ II enough flexibility to become the front end of a conventional bass rig or drive professional audio equipment.
And when you're not on stage, the dedicated Aux Input and Headphone Output turn it into an exceptionally convenient personal practice setup. Connect a backing track or music source, plug in headphones and practice without needing your complete amplifier rig.
A COMPLETE MESA BASS RIG THAT FITS IN YOUR GIG BAG
At Northeast Music Center, we especially like products that solve genuine problems for musicians, and that's where the Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II stands out.
It can live permanently on a professional pedalboard, serve as a high-quality recording preamp, feed a venue's PA directly, provide a compact headphone practice system, or stay in your gig bag as a backup should your main amplifier ever have a problem.
And because the Subway+ II is derived from MESA's respected Subway amplifier preamps, you're not sacrificing your core bass tone simply to gain portability
For bassists who want maximum capability without carrying unnecessary equipment, Northeast Music Center considers the MESA/Boogie Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II an exceptionally versatile addition to a modern bass rig
Professional DI. Powerful EQ. Variable HPF. Boost. Mute. Headphone practice. Genuine MESA bass tone—and it weighs just 1.65 pounds.
