800 WATTS — 6.3 POUNDS

This is one of the great advantages of the Subway platform.

800 watts of professional bass power in a head weighing only 6.3 pounds.

The D-800+ produces its full 800-watt output into either a 4-ohm or 2-ohm load, with 400 watts available at 8 ohms.

That gives the player considerable flexibility when building a cabinet system—from a simple single-cabinet setup to a more substantial multi-cabinet stage rig.

And when the gig is over?

The amplifier goes into its included gig bag.

THE “PLUS” MAKES A DIFFERENCE

The D-800+ isn't simply a D-800 with a few extra knobs.

MESA significantly expanded the preamp's tone-shaping capabilities.

The fully active EQ provides ±12dB of Bass, Low-Mid, High-Mid and Treble adjustment, but the two midrange bands go considerably further.

Low-Mid Frequency: 150Hz–1800Hz
High-Mid Frequency: 300Hz–5000Hz

Those sweepable frequency controls let you decide exactly where the midrange adjustments occur.

That is enormously useful on bass.

You can clean up a problematic room frequency, add definition to fingerstyle playing, give a pick more presence, help a fretless speak, or shape an aggressive modern bass tone without relying on a fixed midrange center.

VARIABLE HIGH-PASS FILTER

One of the D-800+'s most useful professional features is its variable High-Pass Filter, adjustable from 30Hz to 150Hz.

Extremely low frequencies consume amplifier power and speaker excursion very quickly—even when those frequencies aren't contributing anything useful to the music.

The adjustable HPF lets you control that sub-low information.

The result can be tighter response, greater articulation, cleaner low end, and more usable headroom—especially on difficult stages or in large ensemble settings.

This is the kind of control that becomes increasingly valuable once you actually start gigging with the amplifier.

VOICING, DEEP & BRIGHT

Need to reshape the overall personality quickly?

The Voicing control moves from a flatter response toward a vintage-inspired scooped character.

Then MESA provides dedicated Deep and Bright switches.

Deep adds enhanced low-frequency character.

Bright adds additional top-end presence.

Together with the comprehensive EQ section, they allow the D-800+ to move between warm traditional bass sounds and articulate contemporary tones without turning the control panel into a science project.

PROFESSIONAL DIRECT OUTPUT

For live sound and recording, the D-800+ includes a highly configurable balanced XLR DI output.

That gives the bassist and sound engineer considerably more flexibility when sending the D-800+ directly to a mixing console, recording interface, or PA system.

Unlike the standard D-800, the D-800+ includes a fully buffered series effects loop for integrating external signal processing.

There's also a dedicated rear-panel tuner output, front-panel Play/Mute switch, and an external jack for an optional one-button Mute footswitch.

HEADPHONES + AUX INPUT
