MESA/Boogie Triple Crown TC-50 Head w/ 2x12 Rectifier Horizontal Cabinet
Three-channel MESA versatility meets the unmistakable punch of a sealed Rectifier 2x12. The MESA/Boogie Triple Crown TC-50 combines 50 watts of EL34-powered Class A/B authority with six distinct channel voices, all-tube spring reverb, MIDI control, CabClone direct capability, and a Horizontal Rectifier cabinet loaded with two Celestion Vintage 30s.
The MESA/Boogie Triple Crown TC-50 with 2x12 Horizontal Rectifier Cabinet is a complete professional guitar rig built around versatility, immediacy, and serious stage authority.
At the heart of the system is the Triple Crown TC-50—a 50-watt, three-channel all-tube amplifier designed to move effortlessly from articulate cleans through muscular crunch and into aggressive high gain.
Underneath it sits one of MESA’s most respected cabinets: the 2x12 Horizontal Rectifier, loaded with two Celestion Vintage 30 speakers in a sealed Baltic-birch enclosure.
That pairing matters.
The TC-50 supplies the dynamics, harmonic complexity, and EL34-powered midrange character.
The Horizontal Rectifier cabinet adds the low-end authority, projection, and Vintage 30 bite that allow those tones to come alive in the room.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this is a serious MESA rig for players who want one amplifier system capable of covering an enormous amount of musical territory.

THREE CHANNELS — SIX DISTINCT VOICES
The Triple Crown TC-50 is not simply a clean channel plus two variations of high gain.
Each channel has its own role.
CHANNEL 1 — NORMAL / DRIVE
Normal provides the clear, dynamic foundation expected from a serious MESA clean channel.
Switch to Drive and Channel 1 becomes considerably more aggressive, moving naturally into pushed clean, edge-of-breakup, blues, and classic-rock territory.
CHANNEL 2 — NORMAL / TIGHT
Channel 2 moves into modern crunch and medium-to-high-gain rhythm territory.
Normal gives the channel body and harmonic richness.
Tight sharpens the response and low end, making the channel particularly useful when articulation and fast tracking matter.
CHANNEL 3 — NORMAL / TIGHT
Channel 3 is the TC-50’s highest-gain voice.
Normal provides thick, saturated MESA lead and rhythm gain.
Tight focuses the response for faster attack, greater low-end control, and aggressive modern rhythm work.
That gives the TC-50 an enormous amount of usable range without forcing the player through an overly complicated control system.
WHY THE HORIZONTAL RECTIFIER 2x12 IS SUCH A STRONG MATCH
The cabinet is a critical part of this package.
MESA originally designed the Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 using dimensions inspired by the lower two-speaker section of its oversized Rectifier 4x12.
The result is a 2x12 with unusually substantial internal volume, low-frequency authority, and projection.
That makes it an excellent match for the TC-50.
The amplifier can produce pristine cleans, aggressive crunch, and substantial high gain.
The cabinet needs to translate all of those voices without sounding small.
And that is exactly where the Horizontal Rectifier excels.
TWO CELESTION VINTAGE 30s
The speakers deserve to be clearly identified.
This cabinet contains:
2 × Celestion Vintage 30 speakers
with:
120 watts of total power handling
and:
8-ohm impedance.
The Vintage 30 is one of the defining speakers in MESA’s Rectifier cabinet history.
Its assertive midrange, strong projection, harmonic complexity, and ability to remain articulate under gain make it particularly effective with an amplifier like the TC-50.
Channel 1 cleans retain clarity.
Channel 2 crunch tones gain bite and authority.
Channel 3 high gain stays focused.
At Northeast Music Center, we consider the cabinet and speakers part of the amplifier system—not accessories that belong buried in the specifications.
EL34 POWER — WITH OPTIONS
The TC-50 ships with:
2 × MESA EL34 power tubes
and that configuration is central to the amplifier’s personality.
EL34s bring strong midrange presence, harmonic richness, and the kind of aggressive response that makes the Triple Crown particularly satisfying for rock-oriented playing.
But MESA also gives the player options.
A rear-panel Bias Select switch allows compatible:
EL34
6V6
or:
6L6
power tubes to be used.
That gives experienced players another way to explore the personality of the amplifier without modifying the circuit.
50 WATTS THAT FEEL LIKE A REAL PROFESSIONAL AMP
The TC-50 delivers:
50 watts of Class A/B tube power.
That gives the amp enough headroom and physical authority for serious stage use while remaining more manageable than many traditional 100-watt heads.
Through the Horizontal Rectifier 2x12, those 50 watts have plenty of cabinet behind them.
The combination feels substantial.
Punchy.
Responsive.
And capable of moving serious air.
ALL-TUBE SPRING REVERB
The TC-50 includes genuine all-tube spring reverb with independent Reverb controls for each channel.
That means the clean channel can be spacious and dimensional while the rhythm and lead channels remain comparatively dry.
Or configure the amplifier completely differently.
The important point is that reverb isn't a single global compromise.
Each channel gets its own setting.
SOLO CONTROL — BUILT FOR THE STAGE
The TC-50 also includes a dedicated footswitchable Solo Level.
Set your normal playing level.
Set the Solo control above it.
When it’s time to step forward in the mix, hit the footswitch.
No additional boost pedal is required simply to create a lead-level increase.
For a working guitarist, that's an extremely useful feature.
MIDI CONTROL
The TC-50 was built with sophisticated modern rigs in mind.
MESA provides MIDI control with 256 preset locations, allowing compatible MIDI systems to control:
Channel 1
Channel 2
Channel 3
Reverb
Effects Loop
and:
Solo
That makes the TC-50 particularly attractive to players running larger pedalboards, MIDI switchers, rack effects, or automated live systems.
CABCLONE BUILT IN
The TC-50 also includes MESA’s original CabClone™ cabinet simulator.
CabClone provides:
Closed-Back
Open-Back
Vintage
cabinet voices.
There is also an internal amplifier load, headphone output, speaker On/Off function, Ground Lift, and an uncompensated +4dB line output.
This is the earlier analog CabClone system, not the newer CabClone IR system found in amplifiers such as the Badlander and Mark VII.
That distinction is worth making accurately.
But for the player, the practical benefit remains substantial: the TC-50 can integrate into recording, direct, and silent-practice environments without requiring an external load box for every situation.
A 4x12-INSPIRED CABINET WITHOUT THE FULL 4x12
The Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 was built for players who want the authority of a large cabinet but don't necessarily want to transport an oversized 4x12.
You still get:
Two Vintage 30s
120 watts
Sealed construction
Substantial internal volume
Classic Rectifier low-end punch
But the cabinet remains a manageable 2x12 format.
MESA itself describes the Horizontal Rectifier as being capable of sounding big enough to make the player question whether a 4x12 is actually behind them.
That is exactly the sort of cabinet the TC-50 deserves.
96 POUNDS — SPLIT INTO TWO MANAGEABLE COMPONENTS
The TC-50 head weighs:
35 lbs.
The Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 weighs:
61 lbs.
Total component weight:
Approximately 96 lbs.
But importantly, you're moving that weight as two separate pieces.
The cabinet also includes Track-Loc removable casters, making transportation considerably easier.
That gives the player a substantial professional rig without requiring one enormous combo or oversized enclosure.
A COMPLETE TRIPLE CROWN RIG
This is ultimately how we would position this package at Northeast Music Center.
The TC-50 is exceptionally versatile on its own.
But an amplifier head is only half of a guitar rig.
Pair it with the Horizontal Rectifier 2x12 and the entire system becomes much more compelling.
The head supplies:
Three channels.
Six voices.
EL34 power.
Tube reverb.
Solo.
MIDI.
CabClone.
The cabinet supplies:
Two Celestion Vintage 30s.
120 watts.
Sealed Baltic-birch construction.
Rectifier punch and projection.
Together, they form a rig capable of beautiful cleans, classic and modern crunch, hard rock, progressive tones, and serious high gain.
Three channels. Six voices. 50 watts. Two EL34s. Two Vintage 30s. One complete MESA/Boogie system.
