MESA/Boogie 2x12 Vertical Slant Rectifier Speaker Cabinet – Black Taurus

Two Celestion Vintage 30s. 120 watts. Sealed closed-back construction. And the punch and authority of a serious Rectifier cabinet in a vertical format that puts more of your guitar sound where you can actually hear it.

The MESA/Boogie 2x12 Vertical Slant Rectifier Cabinet is built for the player who loves the scale, projection, and physical response of a Rectifier cabinet but doesn't necessarily want to transport a full 4x12.

Loaded with two rear-mounted Celestion Vintage 30 speakers and housed in a substantial sealed, closed-back Baltic birch enclosure, the Vertical Slant delivers the tight low end, aggressive midrange presence, projection, and authority that have made MESA Rectifier cabinets legendary.

The vertical format adds another important advantage: the slanted upper speaker projects more directly toward the player, helping you hear your rig on stage without giving up the low-end punch of a serious closed-back cabinet.

Finished in classic Black Taurus, this is pure MESA/Boogie.

Available from Northeast Music Center, the Rectifier Vertical Slant 2x12 is an exceptional choice for players who want something approaching the sonic footprint of a 4x12 in a considerably more manageable format.

TWO CELESTION VINTAGE 30s — THE CLASSIC RECTIFIER COMBINATION

A Rectifier cabinet is about much more than the name on the grille.

Inside this Vertical Slant are two Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, the speaker voice that has become inseparable from the MESA Rectifier cabinet sound.

Vintage 30s are prized for their powerful midrange presence, harmonic complexity, controlled low end, and ability to maintain definition when an amplifier is producing serious gain.

That makes them natural partners for Dual and Triple Rectifiers.

Palm-muted rhythm work remains focused and percussive. Chords retain definition under heavy saturation. Lead tones have enough midrange presence to push forward in a dense mix.

But don't mistake the Vintage 30 for a speaker that only works with high gain.

Its strong midrange character and musical upper-frequency response also make this cabinet surprisingly versatile with crunch, classic rock, and cleaner amplifier settings.

At Northeast Music Center, that's why we put the speaker complement near the top of the listing. The speakers aren't an accessory inside the cabinet.

They're part of the instrument.

WHY VERTICAL SLANT?

The cabinet's orientation isn't simply cosmetic.

MESA designed the Vertical Slant with roughly the same internal area as its famous Horizontal Rectifier 2x12, allowing it to retain the punch, detail, and substantial sonic footprint players expect from the Rectifier cabinet family.

But stacking the speakers vertically changes the player's experience.

The upper section slopes backward, directing the top Vintage 30 more toward your ears rather than firing both speakers straight past your legs.

On stage, that can make a meaningful difference.

You get the monitoring advantage of the angled upper speaker while retaining the physical low-end response and projection of a substantial closed-back 2x12.

SEALED CLOSED-BACK AUTHORITY

The Vertical Slant is a fully sealed cabinet.

That construction contributes to the focused, controlled response Rectifier cabinets are known for

Low frequencies remain tight and substantial.

The midrange hits with authority.

Fast rhythm passages retain definition.

And when you connect a powerful MESA head and start moving air through both Vintage 30s, the cabinet develops the kind of physical response that makes a great tube amplifier feel alive.

This is especially important with the ’90s Dual and Triple Rectifiers.

Those amplifiers can produce enormous low-frequency energy. A properly designed sealed cabinet helps translate that power into punch and impact instead of loose, unfocused bass.

THE 4x12 ALTERNATIVE

There is nothing quite like standing in front of a great 4x12.

There is also nothing quite like carrying one.

That's where this cabinet makes so much sense.

The Vertical Slant 2x12 gives you two 12-inch Vintage 30s, substantial internal volume, closed-back authority, and a tall cabinet format without the footprint and transportation demands of four speakers.

MESA itself describes this cabinet as capable of providing a 4x12-like sonic footprint when bringing a full 4x12 isn't practical.

For gigging musicians, studios, rehearsal spaces, and players who simply don't need four speakers anymore, that's a very compelling compromise.

BUILT LIKE A MESA

MESA builds this enclosure from void-free Marine Grade Baltic Birch, with heavily reinforced rabbet corners and a dado-jointed, braced speaker baffle.

The Vintage 30s are rear mounted, and the grille cloth is attached to a separate grille board rather than directly to the speaker baffle.

Even the twisted-jute grille material receives a special treatment designed to subtly smooth the extreme top end.

These details may not be as exciting as plugging a Rectifier into the cabinet and hitting the first chord.

But they're part of the reason that first chord sounds the way it does.

BLACK TAURUS — CLASSIC MESA APPEARANCE

Finished in Black Taurus with a Black Jute Grille, this cabinet has the timeless professional appearance that works underneath virtually any MESA head.

Pair it with a Dual Rectifier or Triple Rectifier for the obvious combination.

Put a Mark Series head on top and you have an equally formidable rig.

Or use it with another high-quality tube amplifier when you want the distinctive combination of Vintage 30 response and MESA closed-back cabinet construction.

At Northeast Music Center, we believe choosing the right cabinet is every bit as important as choosing the amplifier driving it.

A great head through the wrong cabinet never reaches its full potential.

That's why Northeast Music Center is proud to offer serious MESA/Boogie cabinets like the Vertical Slant Rectifier 2x12 to players building rigs where every component matters.

And if you've always wanted the authority of a Rectifier 4x12 but no longer want to move one, Northeast Music Center believes this may be one of the smartest alternatives in the MESA cabinet lineup.

Two Celestion Vintage 30s. 120 watts. 8 ohms. Sealed Baltic birch construction. Vertical Slant projection.

Big Rectifier attitude without bringing the entire 4x12.
