Private Stock Takes the Custom 24 Somewhere Extraordinary

There are PRS guitars built from exceptional materials, and then there are Private Stock instruments where the combination of woods and specifications creates something that simply doesn't exist in the standard PRS catalog.

This PRS Custom 24 Private Stock Flame Mango Top Natural Fat Back, serial number 0434514, is exactly that kind of guitar.

The centerpiece is an extraordinary Flame Mango top, presented in a Natural finish that allows the figuring and organic character of the wood to become the visual identity of the instrument. Beneath it is an African Mahogany back and middle, but this isn't built to standard Custom 24 dimensions.

Flame Mango brings an entirely different visual personality than the figured maple most players associate with premium PRS guitars. It combines the natural variation and organic character of Mango with pronounced flame figuring that moves across the top.

And PRS made the right decision here by keeping the guitar Natural.

There's no dramatic color competing with the wood. Instead, the High Gloss Nitro finish enhances the depth and figuring of the Flame Mango while allowing its natural coloration to remain front and center.

On a Private Stock instrument, that's particularly important. You're not simply looking at a finish—you are looking at the actual piece of wood selected for this individual guitar.

PRS carries the Mango theme through to the headstock veneer, giving the instrument a beautifully cohesive appearance from body to headstock.

The combination creates remarkable natural shifts of blue, green, aqua, and other colors against the deep Brazilian Rosewood.

Rather than replacing one of PRS's most recognizable design elements with something completely different, Private Stock takes the classic bird concept and executes it using extraordinary materials.

Even the side dots are specified in Ivory.
