PRS Tekton T Black Tourmaline (s/n:0435843)! Guitar comes with a PRS Premier GigBag!
Product Description
The PRS Tekton T in Black Tourmaline combines a sleek, modern appearance with an entirely new approach to PRS guitar design. Developed with input from players who demand speed, accuracy, and exceptional tonal definition, the Tekton T introduces a sculpted body, fast Modern D neck, stainless steel frets, and newly designed Stylus pickups. Its PRS Two-Point Tremolo adds another dimension, allowing guitarists to incorporate expressive vibrato and pitch movement into their playing.
Black Tourmaline gives this guitar a particularly sophisticated appearance. The dark finish complements the distinctive grain of the figured mango top, creating visual depth without overwhelming the natural character of the wood. Smoked Black hardware reinforces the understated look, while the natural satin maple neck provides a beautiful contrast. It's a striking combination that looks equally at home on stage or in a studio.
The Tekton T is more than a familiar PRS with modern appointments. It represents a new instrument family developed around the way contemporary guitarists play.
A New Body and Neck Designed for Performance
PRS drew inspiration from its Vela and Custom body designs when developing the Tekton, ultimately creating a subtly offset shape with its own identity.
The thin mahogany body features a figured mango top, shallow violin carve, and carefully sculpted contours. A comfortable belly carve and generous upper-fret access help the guitar sit naturally against the player, whether seated or standing. The sculpted neck heel makes reaching the highest frets easier, particularly during technically demanding passages.
The Tekton also introduces the Modern D neck profile, PRS's thinnest standard-production neck carve. Designed to feel fast without sacrificing comfort, it offers a supportive shape that works well for everything from complex chord voicings to intricate lead work.
The natural satin nitro finish provides a smooth playing surface, while the maple neck and bolt-on construction are central to the instrument's distinctive feel.
With a 25.5" scale length, 16" ebony fingerboard radius, and 24 stainless steel jumbo frets, the Tekton T provides a playing experience that differs from a traditional PRS. The flatter fingerboard is particularly useful for wide bends, fast alternate picking, sweeping techniques, and precise articulation.
PRS also incorporated slightly wider string spacing, giving the picking hand additional room to work. Offset fingerboard inlays complete the modern appearance without distracting from the beautiful ebony fingerboard.
PRS Stylus Pickups – Clarity, Articulation, and Versatility
The PRS Stylus pickups were developed specifically for the Tekton family, with particular attention to the needs of players using both traditional amplification and modern digital rigs.
These pickups are voiced to deliver aggressive tones while maintaining clarity and note separation. Rather than simply producing excessive output, PRS designed the Stylus pickups with a more even response than many conventional humbuckers.
That approach helps preserve definition when playing fast passages, complex chords, or heavily saturated tones. It's especially useful for guitarists who rely on digital modeling and profiling systems, where the character and balance of the guitar's signal can make a significant difference.
The Tekton T is equally comfortable working with a traditional tube amplifier or a modern digital setup, offering the responsiveness and dynamic range needed for a wide variety of musical styles.
A master volume, push/pull tone control, and three-way blade pickup selector provide straightforward operation. The push/pull control splits the pickups, offering additional tonal possibilities beyond their full humbucker sounds.
PRS designed each pickup setting to be musically useful, allowing players to move between powerful, focused tones and more open, articulate sounds without complicated switching arrangements.
PRS Two-Point Tremolo – Expressive Control
The defining feature of the Tekton T is its PRS Two-Point Tremolo with steel plate and brass saddles.
Unlike the fixed-bridge Tekton Hardtail, the Tekton T gives players the ability to introduce controlled pitch movement and vibrato directly into their playing.
The two-point mounting system provides smooth operation and supports a floating tremolo setup. This allows guitarists to explore everything from subtle chord shimmer and gentle vibrato to more expressive pitch changes during lead passages.
The steel plate provides a solid foundation for the bridge, while the brass saddles contribute to the guitar's resonance and tonal character.
PRS Phase III locking tuners complement the tremolo system, providing dependable tuning performance and convenient string changes.
For players who want modern precision but also enjoy the expressive freedom of a tremolo, the Tekton T offers a compelling combination.
A Different Side of PRS at Northeast Music Center
At Northeast Music Center, we've spent decades helping musicians find PRS guitars that suit their individual playing styles. From traditional Custom 24 models to Wood Library and Private Stock instruments, we've seen how the company continues to refine its designs while exploring new directions.
The Tekton T is particularly interesting because it brings a different playing experience to the PRS lineup. Its thin, sculpted body, Modern D neck, stainless steel frets, and Stylus pickups all work together to create an instrument that feels purposeful and responsive.
The Black Tourmaline finish gives this model a refined appearance, with the figured mango top providing subtle visual character and the natural satin maple neck adding a welcome contrast.
With more than 30 years of Jack Gretz selling PRS guitars and 15 years of Northeast Music Center representing the brand, we appreciate the details that make an instrument comfortable, reliable, and enjoyable to play.
For guitarists looking for a fast, articulate electric guitar with modern ergonomics and the expressive capabilities of a floating tremolo, the PRS Tekton T in Black Tourmaline is an excellent choice.
Northeast Music Center is proud to offer this new PRS model, complete with its PRS Premium Gig Bag.
