An Uncommon Taylor 314—And That's Exactly What Makes It Interesting

Every once in a while, a used guitar comes through Northeast Music Center that makes us stop and take a second look.

This 2020 Taylor 314, serial number 1202190115, is one of them.

At first glance, it has everything we'd expect from a serious Taylor 300 Series acoustic: a Grand Auditorium body, solid Sitka spruce top, solid sapele back and sides, mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard.

Then you notice what's missing.

No cutaway. No electronics.

And that's precisely what makes this 314 so appealing.

We simply don't encounter many Taylor 314s in this configuration. For the player who wants the versatile Grand Auditorium platform and all-solid-wood construction of Taylor's 300 Series but prefers a traditional, purely acoustic instrument, this is a particularly interesting find.

This guitar recently arrived at Northeast Music Center on trade toward a Taylor 814 Builder's Edition Custom.
