The sound begins with an exceptional Sinker Redwood top.

Taylor sources this wood from old-growth redwood logs recovered from Northern California rivers, where some have remained submerged for more than a century. Beyond its fascinating history and distinctive appearance, Sinker Redwood offers a compelling combination of tonal characteristics.

It has much of the warmth and touch sensitivity associated with cedar, responding beautifully to a light fingerstyle attack. But Sinker Redwood also offers greater headroom and dynamic range, allowing the player to dig in harder without the sound becoming compressed.

Taylor has described its character as something akin to “cedar on steroids.”

Honduran Rosewood – A Different Level of Rosewood
