Mesa Boogie 90s DUAL RECTIFIER MOD I Limited!
Few amplifiers have influenced the sound of modern rock and metal quite like the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier. When it arrived in 1992, its massive low end, aggressive gain, and unmistakable diamond plate front panel helped define a new era of guitar tone. Now, Mesa/Boogie brings that legendary two-channel design back with the 90s Dual Rectifier MOD I, a special one-time limited run featuring an exclusive Tight Mod for even greater attack, definition, and control.
The original Dual Rectifier earned its reputation with a sound that was both enormous and remarkably responsive. Its scooped midrange, harmonically rich distortion, and powerful bass response became staples of hard rock and metal recordings throughout the 1990s and beyond. Just as importantly, the amp's distinctive playing feel made heavy riffs and sustained lead passages incredibly satisfying.
This limited edition stays true to that original formula. The classic two-channel layout offers a straightforward approach to dialing in tones, while Mesa's Channel Cloning feature allows players to select the available mode voicings for either channel. Switchable tube or silicon diode rectification provides another way to shape the amplifier's response, from a softer, more elastic feel to a tighter, more immediate attack.
What makes the MOD I particularly interesting is its exclusive Tight Mod, designed by Mesa/Boogie amp designer John Marshall. This internal overdrive circuit is preset for minimal overdrive and maximum level, pushing the amplifier's front end for a tighter, more percussive response. Activated by a dedicated Normal/Tight switch beside the Gain control, it delivers the added focus and aggression many players traditionally seek from an external boost pedal, now conveniently built into the amplifier.
Under the hood, the Dual Rectifier MOD I delivers 100 watts of Class A/B tube power, with a bias selector that accommodates either 6L6 or EL34 power tubes. Mesa's familiar Bold/Spongy switch further expands the amp's character, allowing players to select a reduced-voltage setting for a softer response, additional harmonics, and a more elastic playing feel.
Visually, this is pure 1990s Rectifier. The black chassis, polished aluminum diamond plate, and chrome Speed knobs recreate the unmistakable appearance that became synonymous with an entire generation of heavy guitar music.
At Northeast Music Center, our relationship with Mesa/Boogie spans more than 25 years, and we've experienced firsthand why these amplifiers continue to command such loyalty among serious guitarists. The 90s Dual Rectifier MOD I is especially appealing because it preserves the simplicity and unmistakable character of the original while adding a genuinely useful feature for today's players.
For guitarists who grew up with the sound of the original Dual Rectifier, or those discovering its unmistakable voice for the first time, this limited edition offers something special. It's the classic Rectifier experience with an extra measure of precision and punch.
