MESA/Boogie JP-2C 1x12 John Petrucci Signature Combo Amplifier
The legendary JP-2C finally becomes a 1x12 combo. 100/60 watts of Mark IIC+–inspired power, three independent channels, dual 5-band Graphic EQs, four 6L6s, a proprietary Celestion Custom 90, MIDI control, and CabClone—all packed into MESA's classic compact 19-inch Boogie format.
The MESA/Boogie JP-2C 1x12 Combo takes one of the most respected modern Mark Series amplifiers and turns it into something players have been asking for: a self-contained Boogie combo.
Developed from MESA's decades-long relationship with John Petrucci, the JP-2C is unapologetically focused on the legendary Mark IIC+ architecture. Rather than filling the amplifier with numerous unrelated modes, MESA designed the JP-2C around one goal: extracting extraordinary clean headroom, crushing rhythm articulation, and soaring high-gain lead performance from the IIC+ foundation.
Now that same philosophy is available in a limited-edition 1x12 combo, loaded with a proprietary Celestion Custom 90 and capable of delivering either 100 or 60 watts from its four-6L6 Class A/B power section.
Available from Northeast Music Center, the JP-2C Combo may be one of the most compelling choices yet for the player who wants genuine Mark IIC+ DNA, modern professional control, and the convenience of a self-contained Boogie.

THE JP-2C IS ALL ABOUT THE MARK IIC+
This is the first thing a serious buyer needs to understand.
The JP-2C isn't designed to be an encyclopedia of unrelated amplifier sounds.
It is purpose built around the Mark IIC+.
John Petrucci's long association with the IIC+ is well known, and when MESA collaborated with him on the original JP-2C head in 2016, the goal was to take the essential performance of that legendary platform and turn it into an amplifier optimized for his modern stage and recording requirements.
The result is remarkably focused:
One exceptional Clean channel.
One brutally articulate high-gain Rhythm channel.
One saturated Lead channel.
That's the JP-2C philosophy.
And now you can get it in a combo.
CHANNEL 1 — SERIOUS CLEAN HEADROOM
Don't make the mistake of thinking the JP-2C is simply a metal amplifier.
Channel 1 is dedicated specifically to Clean performance and is optimized for exceptional preamp headroom.
With a 100-watt four-6L6 power section behind it, this channel can produce enormous clean authority.
The Mid control also extends beyond conventional midrange adjustment into a variable gain-boost range, allowing you to push Channel 1 beyond strictly pristine clean sounds when desired.
This matters because the JP-2C isn't just about distortion.
It's designed as a professional guitar workstation.
CHANNEL 2 — TIGHT, FAST AND AGGRESSIVE
Channel 2 is where the JP-2C's purpose becomes unmistakable.
This is Mark IIC+ high gain optimized for tight rhythm work.
Fast passages remain articulate.
Palm-muted notes hit with authority.
Complex chords maintain separation.
Low-tuned guitars retain definition.
And the response underneath the pick is immediate.
For progressive metal, hard rock, modern metal, technical playing—or simply anyone who values clarity inside high gain—this is one of the primary reasons the JP-2C exists.
CHANNEL 3 — MORE SATURATION FOR LEADS
Channel 3 begins with the same Mark IIC+ high-gain foundation but is voiced for a somewhat warmer, fatter and more compressed response, making it particularly effective for lead work.
That gives you a very logical three-channel layout:
Channel 1 – Clean
Channel 2 – Rhythm
Channel 3 – Lead
It's simple enough to understand immediately but sophisticated enough for a professional touring rig.
SHRED MODE
Both high-gain channels also offer SHRED.
SHRED modifies the high-gain response to add additional upper-harmonic content and aggression, providing another level of attack for players who want the amplifier to feel even more immediate.
For extended-range guitars, lower tunings, and extremely precise high-gain work, this can be an especially powerful option.
TWO FIVE-BAND GRAPHIC EQs
Yes—two of them.
That's one of the features that separates the JP-2C from many other Mark Series designs.
MESA gives you two independent 5-band Graphic EQ sections, and either can be assigned to the amplifier's channels.
That creates enormous practical flexibility.
Build one EQ curve for rhythm.
Build another for leads.
Use one to create the famous scooped Mark response.
Use the other to push mids and alter your solo voice.
Then assign them around the channels you actually use.
For players who understand how powerful the Mark Series Graphic EQ can be, having two independent EQ curves ready to go is a serious advantage.
100 OR 60 WATTS — NOT JUST A VOLUME SWITCH
The JP-2C runs a four-6L6 Class A/B power section with a global 100/60-watt switch.
At 100 watts, all four 6L6s provide the headroom, authority, low-frequency punch, and enormous dynamic range that help define the amplifier.
Switch to 60 watts and the center pair of power tubes enters standby, changing the amplifier's response as well as reducing output. MESA describes the 60-watt setting as somewhat brighter and snappier, while allowing power-tube saturation to occur at lower volume.
For us at Northeast Music Center, that's an important distinction.
You're not simply choosing between "loud" and "less loud."
You're choosing between two different power-section responses.
THE CELESTION CUSTOM 90 — 100-WATT BOOGIE POWER THROUGH ONE 12
This is the specification I would make very prominent on your website.
Inside the JP-2C Combo is a proprietary Celestion Custom 90 12-inch speaker operating at 8 ohms.
The C90 is a natural choice for an amplifier like this because the JP-2C needs a speaker capable of translating a huge range of dynamics.
The clean channel requires headroom and clarity.
The rhythm channel needs definition and low-frequency authority.
The lead channel needs body and harmonic complexity.
And all of it is coming from a 100/60-watt Mark-derived power section.
That's a demanding job for a single 12-inch speaker.
The C90 is an integral part of making this compact combo work.
CABCLONE — RECORD AND PLAY WITHOUT THE SPEAKER
The JP-2C may have classic Mark IIC+ DNA, but it's designed for modern musicians.
Its built-in CabClone system includes an internal amplifier load, balanced direct output, headphone output, Speaker On/Off control, and three analog cabinet voicings: Closed Back, Open Back and Vintage.
That means the JP-2C can operate without its physical speaker when the internal load is engaged.
For recording, late-night playing, direct live applications, and studio work, that's enormously useful.
You can capture the response of a genuine four-6L6, 100-watt MESA tube amplifier without needing to put a microphone in front of the combo.
MIDI — 256 PROGRAM LOCATIONS
The JP-2C also fits naturally into a sophisticated professional rig.
Its MIDI system can store the amplifier's channels, Graphic EQ assignments, SHRED, Reverb, and Effects Loop status across 256 MIDI Program numbers.
For a guitarist running a MIDI controller or effects processor, that means an entire rig can change with a single command
For everyone else, MESA includes a straightforward six-button footswitch controlling Channels 1, 2 and 3, Reverb, EQ 1 and EQ 2.
Modern sophistication when you need it.
Traditional footswitch operation when you don't.
THE "WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING" BOOGIE COMBO
This may be my favorite part of the amplifier.
MESA took a 100-watt John Petrucci signature amplifier and put it into its traditional compact 19-inch Boogie combo format.
The entire amplifier measures only:
18¼" H × 18¾" W × 11½" D.
Yet inside are four 6L6s, five 12AX7s, a Celestion C90, spring reverb, two Graphic EQs, MIDI circuitry, CabClone, and a 100-watt power section.
MESA itself describes the concept as a Boogie "wolf in sheep's clothing."
That's exactly what this amplifier is.
It looks like a compact 1x12.
It weighs 59 pounds.
And it contains the horsepower of a 100-watt JP-2C.
A SIGNIFICANT NEW CHAPTER FOR THE JP-2C
The original JP-2C head established itself as one of MESA's most serious modern Mark Series amplifiers.
The new 1x12 doesn't change what made the JP-2C successful.
It changes where you can take it.
One amplifier.
One speaker.
One power cable.
No separate cabinet required.
For the working guitarist who wants the JP-2C experience but prefers the practicality of a combo—or the longtime MESA enthusiast who simply loves the traditional compact Boogie format—that makes this new version extremely compelling.
And because MESA identifies the JP-2C 1x12 as a limited-edition combo, I would absolutely make that clear in the Northeast Music Center listing rather than treating this like another permanent production model.
At Northeast Music Center, we love amplifiers that have a clear reason to exist.
The JP-2C Combo has one.
It takes the aggressive, articulate, IIC+–inspired performance of John Petrucci's signature MESA and puts it into one of the most iconic formats in Boogie history.
100/60 watts. Four 6L6s. Three channels. Two Graphic EQs. One Celestion C90. Mark IIC+ DNA
The JP-2C is finally a Boogie combo.
