PRS Tekton Hardtail Imperial Topaz (s/n:)! Guitar comes with PRS Premium GigBag!

Product Description

The new PRS Tekton Hardtail in Imperial Topaz represents an exciting new direction for PRS Guitars. Designed from the ground up for modern players, the Tekton combines the craftsmanship PRS is known for with a fresh approach to ergonomics, electronics, and performance. This isn't simply a Custom 24 with a different neck profile. It's an entirely new instrument built around the demands of today's guitarists.

The Imperial Topaz finish is a particularly appealing choice for this model. Applied over a figured mango top, it brings out the wood's distinctive grain patterns and natural character. Mango has a visual personality all its own, with figuring that differs considerably from traditional flame or quilted maple. Paired with the mahogany back, Smoked Black hardware, and sculpted Tekton body, the result is a guitar that looks sophisticated while maintaining a decidedly modern attitude.

One of the most impressive aspects of the Tekton is its physical design. PRS combined elements of its Vela and Custom body shapes to create an entirely new silhouette, with a thinner body, generous belly carve, and deeply sculpted upper-fret access. The result is a guitar that sits comfortably against the player and feels remarkably natural whether you're practicing at home, recording in the studio, or performing onstage.

The neck is equally impressive. PRS developed a new Modern D profile, the thinnest neck shape the company has offered in standard production. Rather than making the neck excessively flat or uncomfortable, PRS gave it enough shoulder to provide a supportive feel while allowing for fast, precise playing.

A 25.5" scale length, 16" ebony fingerboard radius, and 24 stainless steel jumbo frets create a playing surface that is particularly well suited to technical guitar work. Wide bends, intricate picking patterns, complex chord voicings, and fast lead passages all benefit from the Tekton's carefully considered design.

The maple neck also features internal hormigo reinforcement rods for additional strength and rigidity. Offset fingerboard inlays give the instrument a clean, contemporary appearance, while Luminlay side dots improve fretboard visibility under dark stage lighting.

PRS Stylus Pickups: Clarity Without Compromise

The Tekton introduces another important development from PRS: the new Stylus humbuckers.

Rather than relying on excessive output to produce an aggressive sound, PRS designed these Alnico 5 pickups to retain clarity, articulation, and dynamic response. The result is a pickup set that handles high-gain playing beautifully while preserving individual note definition.

This approach is especially valuable for guitarists using modern digital modeling systems. Whether you're plugging into a traditional tube amplifier, a Neural DSP setup, a Fractal Audio processor, or another digital rig, the Stylus pickups are designed to provide a balanced signal that responds naturally to your playing.

The controls are straightforward and versatile: a master volume, push/pull tone control, and three-way blade pickup selector. The push/pull function provides coil splitting, expanding the guitar's tonal range beyond its full humbucker voices. PRS specifically developed the Stylus pickups to deliver useful sounds in both humbucking and split configurations, making the Tekton a versatile choice for players who move between different styles and gain levels.

The PRS Hardtail bridge reinforces the guitar's direct, immediate response. For players who prefer the simplicity and stability of a fixed bridge, it's an excellent match for the Tekton's performance-focused design. PRS Phase III locking tuners complete the hardware package, offering dependable tuning and convenient string changes.

A Different Kind of PRS

At Northeast Music Center, we've worked with PRS guitars long enough to appreciate when the company introduces something genuinely different. The Tekton is one of those instruments. Its new body shape, Modern D neck, stainless steel frets, and purpose-built pickups show how seriously PRS approached the needs of modern guitarists.

The Imperial Topaz finish adds another dimension to that design. The figured mango top gives the guitar an individual character, while the darker hardware and understated appointments keep the overall appearance clean and purposeful.

With more than 30 years of Jack Gretz selling PRS guitars and 15 years of Northeast Music Center representing the brand, we've developed a deep appreciation for the details that make these instruments special. The Tekton offers an entirely new experience for players who already love PRS, while opening the door to guitarists who may not have previously considered one.

For the musician looking for a fast, comfortable, articulate electric guitar with exceptional build quality and modern versatility, the Tekton Hardtail deserves serious consideration.

Northeast Music Center is proud to offer the PRS Tekton Hardtail in Imperial Topaz, complete with its PRS Premium Gig Bag.
