The Mark IIC+ Re-Issue brings back the legendary Rhythm and Lead architecture, 75/25-watt Simul-Class power, four 6L6s, the iconic 5-band Graphic EQ, tube-driven spring reverb, and the articulate high-gain response that made the original a legend.

WHY THE MARK IIC+ MATTERS

The Mark IIC+ wasn't designed around an enormous collection of channels and modes.

Its appeal comes from something very different.

It does a smaller number of things exceptionally well.

The architecture traces its roots to the original Mark II—the world's first production amplifier with independently usable clean and overdrive performance modes—and the IIC+ represents the highly refined third generation of that concept.

You get RHYTHM and LEAD.

That's the foundation.

But within that seemingly simple control layout is an amplifier capable of moving from beautiful Boogie cleans to some of the most articulate and influential high-gain sounds ever produced by a tube amplifier.

RHYTHM — DON'T THINK OF THE IIC+ AS ONLY A HIGH-GAIN AMP

The mythology surrounding the Mark IIC+ often focuses on its Lead sound.

That's understandable.

But it can cause players to overlook how important the Rhythm mode is to the amplifier.

Volume 1 establishes the initial gain level and includes Pull Bright, while Master 1 includes Pull Deep. The shared Treble, Bass, and Middle controls establish the fundamental voice before the Graphic EQ provides another layer of shaping.

The result can range from clear, dimensional Boogie cleans through increasingly pushed vintage-flavored tones.

That's important because the Mark IIC+ isn't simply an extraordinary distortion generator.

It's an extraordinary amplifier.

LEAD — THE SOUND THAT BUILT THE LEGEND

Then you engage Lead.

The Mark IIC+ uses a cascading high-gain Lead architecture, building upon the initial Volume 1 setting and adding independent Lead Drive and Lead Master controls.

This interaction is a huge part of the classic IIC+ experience.

The result is gain that can be saturated without becoming indistinct.

Fast passages retain articulation.

Palm-muted rhythm playing has immediacy.

Complex chords can retain separation.

Lead lines have sustain and harmonic richness without automatically dissolving into compression.

That balance—gain, articulation, attack, and harmonic complexity—is a major reason the IIC+ became legendary.

THE FIVE SLIDERS

Then there is arguably the most recognizable tone-shaping feature in Boogie history.

80Hz. 240Hz. 750Hz. 2200Hz. 6600Hz.

The Mark IIC+'s 5-band Graphic EQ allows considerably more precise control over the final response than the traditional tone controls alone.

And yes—the famous V-shaped EQ curve is part of the Mark legacy for a reason.

But treating those five sliders as a one-trick metal setting misses much of what they can do.

Use them to tighten the bottom.

Change the critical midrange character.

Bring a lead tone forward.

Alter the upper attack.

Or dramatically reshape the amplifier's personality.

The Graphic EQ is also footswitchable, turning it into a practical performance tool rather than simply a set-and-forget EQ.

75-WATT SIMUL-CLASS / 25-WATT CLASS A

The power switch gives you two distinctly useful operating choices.

Select 75 watts and you get the full Simul-Class power section for maximum richness, authority, headroom, and low-frequency strength.

Switch to 25-watt Class A operation and the amplifier offers reduced power and low end with smoother power-section clipping available at lower volume levels.

This isn't simply about making the amplifier quieter.

It changes how the amplifier feels.

That's why both settings are valuable.

FOUR 6L6s — REAL BOOGIE POWER

Underneath the chassis are four MESA 6L6 power tubes, while five 12AX7s handle the preamp.

That matters because so much of the Mark IIC+ experience is about response.

It's the relationship between the preamp, power section, Graphic EQ, transformers, speaker cabinet—and the player.

Hit a chord and the amplifier responds immediately.

Dig in harder and it responds differently.

Roll back your guitar and there's another side of the amplifier waiting.

That interaction is difficult to communicate with a specification sheet.

It's also one of the reasons players remain fascinated by the IIC+ four decades after the original.

VINTAGE ARCHITECTURE THAT STILL WORKS IN A MODERN RIG

MESA wisely retained the features that make the IIC+ practical today.

There's a tube-driven Series Effects Loop for delay, modulation, and other time-based effects.

The Slave Output captures a signal from the amplifier's output section and can feed external processors or IR equipment, making Wet/Dry/Wet configurations possible without changing the essential vintage character of the amplifier.

You also get tube-driven spring reverb, with Reverb and EQ both footswitchable.

No menus.

No screens.

No presets.

No scrolling.

Just an amplifier.

And for many serious players, that's precisely the attraction.

WHY BUY THE RE-ISSUE INSTEAD OF A VINTAGE IIC+?

This is something I would address directly because many customers considering this amplifier will inevitably ask themselves the question.

An original Mark IIC+ has undeniable historical and collector appeal.

It can also mean searching for a roughly 40-year-old amplifier whose condition, maintenance history, originality, tube health, component history, and previous modifications may vary considerably.

The Re-Issue offers another path.

You get MESA's modern recreation of the IIC+ architecture in a new amplifier built by MESA/Boogie, without needing to hunt down a vintage example of uncertain history.

For the collector, an original will always have its place.

For the player who wants the IIC+ experience, the new amplifier makes an extremely compelling argument.
