PRS Tekton Hardtail Violet Tourmaline (s/n:)! Guitar comes with PRS Premier GigBag!

Product Description:

The PRS Tekton Hardtail in Violet Tourmaline brings together a striking figured mango top, a completely redesigned playing platform, and the kind of thoughtful engineering that has made PRS one of the most respected names in electric guitars. Built for players who appreciate speed, accuracy, and exceptional tonal definition, the Tekton introduces a different approach to what a modern PRS guitar can be.

Violet Tourmaline gives this model a particularly distinctive personality. The finish complements the natural figuring of the mango top, allowing its unique grain patterns to become part of the guitar's appearance. Paired with Smoked Black hardware and a contrasting natural satin maple neck, it creates a sophisticated look that's contemporary without being overly flashy. Because every figured mango top is different, each guitar has its own visual character.

PRS developed the Tekton as an entirely new family of instruments rather than simply modifying an existing model. Its sculpted body draws inspiration from both the Vela and Custom designs, with a thinner profile, comfortable belly carve, and generous upper-fret access. It's the thinnest body PRS has produced in standard production, and that difference is immediately apparent when you pick it up.

The neck is another important part of the Tekton experience. Its new Modern D profile is PRS's thinnest standard-production neck shape, designed to accommodate technical playing while retaining enough substance to feel comfortable in the hand. The natural satin nitro finish provides a smooth playing surface, and internal hormigo reinforcement rods add strength and rigidity to the maple neck.

A 25.5" scale length, 16" ebony fingerboard radius, and 24 stainless steel jumbo frets create an excellent foundation for precise playing. The flatter fingerboard accommodates wide bends and fast passages, while the slightly wider string spacing—similar to that of the PRS Silver Sky and Fiore—provides additional room for accurate picking and sweeping techniques.

PRS also introduced a new offset-dot inlay design for the Tekton, complemented by Luminlay side dots for better visibility on dark stages. These details may seem small individually, but together they make the instrument especially comfortable and practical for musicians who spend a lot of time performing.

PRS Stylus Pickups – A New Voice for Modern Players

Rather than adapting an existing pickup design, PRS developed the Stylus humbuckers specifically for the Tekton family.

These Alnico 5 pickups were engineered to deliver an aggressive, articulate sound without relying on excessive output. Their carefully balanced response helps preserve note separation and dynamic clarity, particularly when playing complex chords or fast passages through high-gain amplification.

An important part of their development was compatibility with modern digital guitar systems. The Stylus pickups are designed to perform equally well through traditional tube amplifiers and today's digital modeling and profiling platforms. That makes the Tekton a particularly interesting choice for players who regularly move between stage amplifiers, recording interfaces, and sophisticated digital rigs.

The electronics are straightforward: a master volume, push/pull tone control, and three-way blade pickup selector. The push/pull control provides coil splitting, expanding the guitar's tonal possibilities beyond its full humbucker sounds. PRS took particular care to ensure that both humbucking and split-coil settings remain balanced and musically useful.

The PRS Hardtail bridge complements the guitar's focused response, providing a stable, direct connection between the strings and body. PRS Phase III locking tuners complete the hardware package, offering dependable tuning performance and convenient string changes.

Designed Around the Player

One of the things we appreciate most about the Tekton is that its specifications serve a clear purpose. The flatter fingerboard, stainless steel frets, thinner body, redesigned neck, and Stylus pickups weren't chosen simply to follow current trends. They were developed together to create an instrument that feels cohesive and responsive.

At Northeast Music Center, we've worked closely with PRS guitars for decades, and we've seen firsthand how the company continues to evolve its designs. The Tekton is an excellent example of PRS listening to musicians and creating something genuinely new in response.

The Violet Tourmaline finish adds a beautiful visual dimension to that engineering. Its figured mango top and natural satin maple neck give it a distinctive appearance, while the underlying design delivers the comfort and precision modern players expect.

With more than 30 years of Jack Gretz selling PRS guitars and 15 years of Northeast Music Center representing the brand, we understand the importance of finding an instrument that feels right from the moment you pick it up.

For guitarists who want the craftsmanship and attention to detail of a PRS combined with a faster neck, flatter fingerboard, articulate pickups, and a dependable fixed bridge, the Tekton Hardtail offers a compelling new option.

Northeast Music Center is proud to offer the PRS Tekton Hardtail in Violet Tourmaline, complete with its PRS Premium Gig Bag.
