Tekton Model

Tekton: (Ancient Greek) meaning artisan or craftsman – in particular a woodworker, carpenter, or builder. Stylus: an instrument used for writing
Since day one, PRS Guitars has been built around a combination of player feedback and our experience as guitar makers. Listening to musicians while continually refining our craft has helped us create instruments that serve as tools for a wide range of players. Over the years, we have heard a growing call for more modern PRS guitars. Guitars with thinner necks, longer scale lengths, flatter fretboards, stainless steel frets, and pickups that work with digital rigs. Welcome: The PRS Tekton Family.
GOALS: When PRS started this project, they had a goal of serving the most discerning, technical players. That led them to a basic set of specifications. Some were easier to determine, like a 25.5” standard scale length and 26.5” scale length 7-string model. Some were debatable, like all new designs, Prototypes were built and show to Dealers when visiting PRS. Our owner Jack Gretz was asked on several occasions for input to the design, whether PRS should include a 16” or 20” fretboard radius. Some specs were clear, but the team knew the design would take some work. Like any new body and neck shape, pickups, and playability etc, would have to stand on their own and feel at home to the players.
Like many of you, we see guitars every day here at Northeast Music Center. Up close and personal. So, when something is making its way through Prototype, design, changes, confirmations, the store begins to feel a stir, Between the new body shape, the unique figure of the mango tops, and a new color palette, the Tekton lineup had the store buzzing.
We here at Northeast Music Center, sincerely hope you enjoy the new Tekton Lineup, it is a journey to a different dimension with PRS Guitars. The cool thing is after 30+ years as a dealer with this great company, we feel like we were part of the final design. Now it is time to plug in and enjoy your new journey.
